Well, the last I looked it's not a crime, although it has led some people to commit crimes. It is a sin, though, and one of the big ten. The thing to do is to realize that you aren't really in love with the other person. You are bored in your marriage and looking for distraction. It's normal to get crushes every once in a while, even if married, but the mature person turns away from this towards their partner.

The person might consider self-examination to figure out if this is love or merely lust? And then, the marriage needs to be examined. People don't go looking outside if things are good at home. The "falling in love" with another person is a symptom of something else that is not right. Address the cause and the symptom will go away.

James G.,
For someone with so much pity for believers who spend time in prayer, you spend an unusual amount of time in the religion section.
Maybe you need a break or a hobby.
Spirituality does not have to be expressed in religion or a belief system.
You probably have people around you who need a friend...someone who will care enough to spend some time and energy to help them think through their problems and come up with solutions...or to to sympathize when solutions fail.
Friends are hard to find...and good friends are few indeed.

God commanded us all to love one another as He loved us. That means a pure love -- not a physical act of sex. You may be confusing lust with love. If you feel a strong attraction to someone you are not married to, you need to distance yourself from that person and work on your relationship with your spouse. To me, you have already cheated on your spouse as you are not giving her/him the things you committed to in your marriage vows -- love, honor , cherish and cleaving ( being faithful) to the one you married. You have cheated them out of the honor you promised, the love you promised and are thinking of being unfaithful These thoughts are taking away from the marital relationship and hindering you from improving your marriage.
Do you believe you have sinned? You must or you wouldn't have asked this question. Get to work on your marriage and give ALL of yourself to your mate -- including all your desires, hopes, dreams, and love.

Well it depends....are you imagining jumping this persons bones, wishing that you had married that person instead, putting that person before your wife....etc? Lustful thoughts of some woman other than your wife is a sin.....so it's a fine line....be careful not to cross it.

That all depends upon how religious you are. One of the ten commandments is to never covet thy neighbor's wife. I guess when a person goes by that they would naturally call it a sin.

Love everybody whether you're married to them or not. This will help you avoid lusting or thinking inappropriate thoughts about another person. Remember, God's love is purely unselfish, so if you truly love people, you'll act in their best interest.

It is an emotion... you haven't donne any sin yet (i hope), what i can tell is that, if you and your husband followed Islam, that problem would have rarely come to you...
