Can we all stop trying to flame this forum please? It won't bring back the dead.

I don't know his religion. I confess that I haven't kept up with the story as well as I should have. It's too depressing.

Well, religion could very well have been a force in his life that caused him to take this action, but i agree that it shouldn't be dwelled upon.

He was obviously a disturbed individual who seemed to have had a lot of negative attention focused towards him. You'd think that after so many of these school shootings the kids would learn that they have to accept everyone instead of casting out the ones who are different. I think that if he would've been accepted by his peers he might not have gone through such drastic measures to seek retribution. Not saying he was justified in his actions, but almost everything has a reason and in many cases those reasons can be avoided through compassion which it seems this boy never had.

What was his religion?

His actions had some relation with his beliefs I don't think there were any significant events that can explain him killing 32 people, besides some fantasy he lived in that people were against him more than they are against anyone else.

He wanted to be a martyr for a cause only he and some Islamic people believe in. Jihad. Holy war against modern society.

He mentioned Jesus, but had no understanding of Jesus's death or method of. Jesus did not take a sword and kill 32 innocent people and then kill himslef with it once done.

Cho's philosophy is likened to extremist Islam. No person can deny that. He was irrational and completely insane.

To answer, both are equally important to answer the whys to why these innocent children and teachers are dead.

The most meaningful event to come out of this tragedy is the Jewish teacher who gave his life holding the door to allow no particular religion's child to escape out the window. Now that is the kind of action to be likened to Jesus' death.

God be with all of them.

How many of us really know each person we are in contact everyday? Do we do everything we can to help them? You can not put blame on any person other than Cho Seung-Hui, and I am sure he would be thrilled to know that people are using him to slam religions, the school, the police and the very State itself. . .he has accomplished all of his goals, imo.

I truly believe the Boy had no since of religion. I believe he was so confused he didn't even know what or who he was after.... In all reality he was after himself. he had a sickness..... If it were religious based, he would have attacked just certain individuals.... If it were based on hatred, he would have attacked those who opposed him... but he went after just anyone and everyone.... No specific individuals.... he was just pure evil and he wanted everyone to pay. And had you or I been in his aim, we also would have been a victim. I live 1 hour from Va Tech, In West Virginia. I have been to the campus several times.... And it breaks my heart to know. This could have been anyone of us. Anywhere in the world. Same people are just sick people. And where his insecurities stem from are at home. he needed help. And SADLY no one took him serious enough to give it to him... So he him self is also a victim.... Lets Pray for them all......

There are a number of things that can be learned here. Amoung them : the product of isolation and others indifference to a soul in need of help. The media machine (I just loved the image of the killer with a background of rock and roll music on channel 5 (who are these people??)) and societal issues to name a few.

There is going to be enough hate out there to go around without posting even more.
He was shunned and decided to be his own martyr to prove to the world he could make a difference.
Mentally unstable or a product of society?
It is not an excuse for what he did, nor is he any reference to any religion in the world today.

He did make a difference.
He will be thought of for years to come.
He got what he wanted because we are now giving it to him. Attention.

See more to come. Americans are among the most depressed in the world. Our priorities are way out of wack. I only hope our youth are strong enough to make a difference.

He used religion to validate his actions so that he could twist the truth in his mind. No one does things because they believe ultimately they are bad people are motivated very strongly that what they are doing is good.

The events are a piece of it, his mental health is the larger piece. People of all faiths and with no faith have had mental health conditions that have led to tragic ends.
