Start off by just being a friend, and not looking for a girlfriend ....
Look around you and see if there are girls who are not already in relationships. Many girls are, but don't worry about that or them, spend your energy on the ones that are not in relationships.
Then just start by talking with them, making nice comments to them, being nice and polite to them, and interested in who they are as a person. See them as potential friends and be nice. Then, when a relationship is established, then ask them out to a movie, or dinner. Try something low-key, and don't go too fast. It'll happen.

Try putting down the play station and leaving the house for something other than to buy a new game.
