I've read that 'primitive' people would leave their old out on the ice for the polar bears, or in the wilderness for the wolves.

Interesting how a few people chose to believe you were asking if Christians leave their old people out on the ice for the wild-life...

As someone so rightly pointed out, we no longer live in primitive times.

My old uncle actually saw a movie on TV in his nursing home where the "Native Americans" left their elderly out for the wolves and asked if it might not be easier if we did that for him. Sure, but where does he think we'd get the wolves from around here?! Kinda insensitive of the staff to let them watch that kind of thing I thought...oh well...nice to know some people keep their sense of humour even when a lot of their other senses are beginning to fail.

As with anything else, you can't lump all Christians together in what they do with their old people. Some "Christians" just slap their elders into a nursing home and forget about them except for the "pray for my mom/dad/grandma/grandpa/aunt/uncle..." show at church to make themselves feel good. Or maybe they find the best nursing/retirement home available and visit whenever they can. Others care for them at home as long as they are able, either by themselves or with help from other family or hospice services.

We arre no longer a promitive race. And if we are truely born again christians. We would take care of our older people. Our parents or even grandparents took care of us. Not only as christians but as humans we need to take care of our elderly. I took care of my inlaws for the past 10 years. Now I am trying to do so for my own parents. Social Security stinks. The government should be ashamed of themselves because they do not give enough for our elderly to live on. But yet they pay people to lazy to work a better paycheck each month then the common laborer will make barely enough to pay his bills working 18 hrs. plus a day. Like a farmer....

Here in the UK (where Christianity was invented), we have decided to tag our elderly so as to allow them to roam about without getting lost; rather like deer, which can no longer be hunted with dogs. Oh dear, surely not......?

They tend to put them all on an ark in the middle of the ocean. Either that, or a really crappy nursing home.

A Christian will take care of them. remember the Commandment, "Honor thy Father and thy Mother so that your days will be long and prosperous on this earth"

You're sick. We care for our elderly, just like any other human being. My aunt Hazel (God rest her soul) was placed in a nursing home close to where I lived so she could be near family and cared for professionally. We don't leave them out to die!
