Your British cousins made the bigger mistake of choosing the Monty Python version in "The existence of Brian". Christians who're biblically literate be attentive to that prophecies bearing directly to the Christ confirmed he could on no account be observed in a crowd, that there became no longer something bodily admirable or word-worth approximately him. (Isaiah fifty 3:2) He became an consumer-friendly-looking Jewish guy, born right into a adverse kin. by the point he became nailed to the go, he became so mutilated, he infrequently regarded human. He became crucified because of the fact he claimed to be the King of God's Kingdom. No different Jewish prophet had ever completed that till now! yet he ensured that he did die on the go on condition that became the only way devil and death would desire to be defeated; being an atoning sacrifice and being resurrected thereafter. It became all in God's plan in Genesis financial disaster 3. Biblically literate Christians do no longer make the blunders American or British human beings make with regard to the guy of Christ. Nor do they make your errors.

The big wave of christianity allready passed through Britain, on its way to America. That is why Britain was the ruling nation before America. The Brits had thier own fights that made change in the world. The fight to not be owned by the Monarchy (Subjects). Last names were established in England, and now every adult male is called Sir, not just the Royalty.

Hi Heather,I have pondered on this myself a few times and I think that there are a number of factors involved, firstly I think that the new affluence that has grown in the last 20yrs or so has had a detrimental effect on faith and religion in England, it is apparent that many people and not just the young are more concerned with pleasure and escapism and those worldly things that religion cannot give, and one last thing seems to be a spread of lethargic disinterest in the spiritual.

I am an AMERICAN and proud of it. Also I'm not religious, and I don't have a gun. But like I said... One day you'll need us either for faith or protection. Besides their still honked off about us booting them out of our land, that we took from peace loving natives, fare and square. All I can say is if you don't like us stay out of our country, and don't come asking for help when you get invaded. If I had my way we'd build a wall around ourselves and let the rest of the world die in peace. Well die in our peace and then maybe the next time the Divine will see fit to exclude humans from this world. Man, God's worst mistake ever.

Because modern americans are mostly the descendants of people who had their "Go" switch stuck down and their "Stop" switch broken.
They went out there with the notion in their heads that they were awesome and everything they did was righteous and infallible.... They promptly used that to rebel against the countries that spawned them in the first place and become independant....
... And have used it to shove their national ego in everyone's faces ever since.
And in case you hadn't noticed.... religion tends to draw more zealotry than anything else on the planet.... so why be surprised that a people who are essentially zealous about EVERYTHING happen to be highly religious?
Us Brits on the other hand are a comparitively jaded and apathetic nation.

I am not sure about that one, it may be because although the majority are Christian, it is mainly Anglican and Catholic. Other churches can come across as more fanatical and therefor appear more religious. I live in Britain and think it is still rather religious.

The US is an anomaly in the civilised world. Atheism is expanding very fast in Western Europe, particularly in the UK, in Scandinavia, in Holland and Belgium, etc. Religion persists in third-world countries, where poverty and crime and natural disasters threaten the people on a daily basis. In the 'West', poverty levels are MUCH reduced, the states look after their people properly, education is excellent - for all, health services are SO much better ... the need for religion diminshes under these circumstances.
The US, however, is MUCH slower to adopt atheism. This is partially because of education being directed by religion, partly because, in the earlier times, the US was inhabited by very religious families escaping from religious persecution in Europe - and this is passed on through rigid indoctrination of the young children.
I am Brit
I am atheist
I did not know of ANYONE in my neighbourhood who had religion when I was living in the UK. Oooops! ONE family, who sang hymns and played a little organ. They were laughed at, of course. Pitied for their delusions.

It's interesting - some speculate, ironically, that it is precisely because their nation was founded as a secular state, with no official religion, whereas the UK is ostensibly Church of England. With freedom of religion protected by the Constitution, there was a climate in which the principles of the market place could be applied to religion!
