I was always told it was true because black attracts the sun, but this always sounded a bit daft to me.

yes it does,

If you wear white, the sun bounces off it!

I wish I knew the reason, but I dont think I was paying attention in Physics!! LOL

Black absorbs the heat and white reflects the heat that is why in many hot coutries the clothes are white or pale colours and colder climates black is worn to get you warmer, this is also seen in shops with the changes of the seasons.

It's true. The dark colors absorbs the sun rays, whereas light colors reflect the sun rays. I usually wear a tank top during summer time and pair of shorts.

May sound daft but it is in fact true.
As you said black attracts the heat so therfore you will roast alive if you wear it on a warm day.
Best to keep to light colours like white, cream on warm days

Yes,dark colors attract heat. The same goes for riding in a black car. You'll feel the heat more.

A green coloured object absorbs all colours of the spectrum except for green, which it reflects. A white coloured object reflects all colours and absorbs none.

A black object absorbs all colour and reflects none. Therefore a black shirt will retain more heat compared to a white shirt.

you will feel hotter on a sunny day if you have a black shirt on compared to if you wore a white one.
