are on the dole (welfare) are better off than people who work?
There is a family who live near me, they don't work & haven't in the last 6 years they have loads of kids yet they seem to live a better life than most who work. They have just got a car on finance!! they have plasma tv's they are always having something new. How do they do it when they are on benefits?

If they can live that sort of life it's no wonder people wont work!

My cousin has 5 kids, is on the dole, lives in the most expensive town going (Exmouth WA) and is doing fine! It sucks! I saw something on TV that said that if you have 7 kids...you earn more than the average wage earner...all for doing nothing but rooting really. And here in Australia, you get the baby bonus of $4000 for every child born. My husband works his guts out and we are struggling and you see these families that are on easy street by rorting the system. Plus they get free medical, dental, rebates on power bills and licencing cars or drivers licences. The list goes on! It doesn't seem fair at all!

Lets see, before I started working, I got free dental treatment. The crown fell out a year or two later and when I went back, the treatment would have cost me hundreds. I go about with a gap in my smile. It irritates me from time to time but it's my own fault.

I decided to get a job so I have to face the consequences like having to pay full rent, prescriptions, dental treatment, bus fares etc.

I only put into the NHS (and boy do they take a lot off me), why should I expect to reap the benefits of that money?

It gets my goat when I work 80-100 hours a week, and have done for years to scrape by and support my family - I don't have Sky TV, a mobile phone, flash car, flash clothes etc.

People I know from school have never worked, they have children we support, they have nearly new cars, £100 trainers, Sky TV, holidays in Magaluf - how can that be fair ? And when I see families of 10 or 12 with parents who've never broken sweat I almost get stressed. There are genuine cases but it seems there are a majority who know how to screw the system for every penny.

My wife used to work in welfare benefits and people who came to see her knew every excuse/backdoor etc to get max benefits for minimum effort - and to make matters worse they used to share it with the others waiting at the office

Totally agree, but you hit the nail on the head when you said they had loads of kids, the more kids you have, the more benefits you reap.In my opinion if you are a family on benefits that doesnt work just because of the kids, then they should stop any benefits after the 3rd child,it might just encourage them to get off their lazy bums, and give the tax payers a break.

I know some people like that...They are on welfare and get money; her kids act crazy in front of the Doctor to get meds and benefits (money). They sale the meds for more money.
Then the government pays for the babysitting to the person who babysits; that can be a relative; they use the name of the family member; and that family member doesn't sit. She or he just get 35% of the check and the rest goes to the family with the kids......I can go on and on.

I used to think that people that worked & owned their own house were better off now i'm not so sure!!
If you rent somwhere & dont work you get the rent & council tax paid for, your kids get free school meals & reduced cost trips for school! YOU get free doctors & glasses if you need them reduced dental charges IF you have to pay anythin at al etc so YEAH i think people who dont work are better of most times!
But then if you work at least you hav the satisfaction of knowing you've earned it!!!!lol

Hmmm. Something's a bit dodgy there. I don't think is the lifestyle of a typical family living on benefits!
