The conflict in Palestine is the quest of the Palestinians to regain the land grabbed by Israel. The one in Ireland is about the recognition of Ireland as a separate state with a distinct religion from UK.

The first two answerers are wrong. The conflict in Northern Ireland is one caused by civil rights of a large minority being undermind and wish for that minority to have the provence united with the Republic of Ireland forming one independent state. That is what caused the conflict to escalate to terrorism. The people that are Nationalist are Catholic and those who are Unionist are Protestant. Religion is what the conflict was painted as, though it is mostly policitical, particularly now.
There are similarities, but in Palestine the majority are subjugated on their own lands. Plus, in Northern Ireland the former political wing of the paramilitary group seeking freedom has renounced violence, the same cannot be said for Palestine and Hamas.
Saying that the situation was once like that, but that involved the entire island of Ireland. Israeli settlements is on par with the Plantations of Ulster, when noblemen and serfs from Scotland were given lands in the provence of Ulster kicking out the native ulstermen.

Fraginal answered your question and I agree
Both use terror and weapons in "terrorist" style attacks to try and get what they want though.
