uhm so the space traveller is experiencing the effects of time dilation due to the effects of general relativity from his space craft approaching the speed of light..regarding the intergalaticular niner to the spaceship.

Unless this is some kind of trick question, he would be 34yrs. Why wouldn't he be? His body is still aging regardless of where he is.

The fact that you said he 'returns back after 5yrs' suggests that 'you' are on earth and measuring time in earth years. It doesn't matter how fast he travels or any other factor. He will take 5 years to return regardless of any other variable, so he will be 5 years older.

If the answer is 29yrs because you have told us the age at the beginning then the question isn't worded correctly. The man is said to be 29 when he goes into space.

The guy that thinks it depends on how far you travel, how fast you travel or if the time was measured on earth or on his watch is getting a bit mixed up. Speed and distance does not effect time. We have to assume that it is an accurate reading of time and not a watch that may be effected by changes in speed, gravity, pressure etc.

He's not a magic spaceman!!!

Yes

The man's age is either a. 29 years, b. 34 years c. Less than 29 years or d. Greater than 34 years.

(Although I'm not absolutely sure about c.)

It's all relative.
It depends on;
- How far he went?
- How fast did traveled?
- Exactly where is the person asking the question?
- Is the clock registering five years elapsed time;
a) on earth
b) on the man's wrist?

Since your question gave no indication that the space traveller is experiencing the effects of time dilation due to the effects of general relativity from his space craft approaching the speed of light, B is the correct answer.

With the information given, he is 34. Should he have somehow approached or reached the speed of light, it could be different.

That certainly depends on the speed which he goes into space and back.

In theory, he might still be 29 years old.
