The transistor replaced the valve as a component of electronics. It generates less heat than a valve, and is much smaller, which enabled much more efficient electronic devices(radios, TVs etc) to be built.

The transistor is said to be the first device derived from theory, as opposed to developing theories to explain why a device works. It provided vindication for quantum mechanics which, until then, was regarded as not much more than a speculative branch of physics.

The transistor has had an enormous effect on all aspects of life, and micro-miniaturization of the transistor has made possible digital calculators, computers as we now know them, a wide range of medical devices, miniature transceivers, and sensors to quantify things previously extremely difficult to measure. Whole industries arose to manufacture and utilize the device, and spun off a host of derivative industries. Worldwide, almost instant, communication is now available to people who own or have access to telephones and/or computers, and ownership of such devices is no longer limited to the very rich.

transistor is the greatest thing that has hapopened in modern physics.
It consumes less energy, less space, less power dissipation and many other benefiets.
Do you no Moores law.
Look for this law. Find this law and read it. You will come to know about the power of transistor.
