This question has been debated all over the world and people tend to view the answer according to their political leanings. I don't like simple labels such as "liberal" or "conservative" and I prefer trying to be objective. Polls internationally show that a large number of people truly believe the U.S. is "dangerous" and this generally has been attributed to two things: 1) The Iraq situation; and, 2) the perception that George Bush and his administration are "aloof" and uncooperative with the international community. Whether you agree with this or not, it is what a majority of the international community believes.
The violence and instability in Iraq is affecting extremist operations in other countries. Many people blame the U.S. for this and, thus, the current instability seems more important than something the U.S. did in the past. It's sort of the old "what have you done for me lately" attitude.

What I think really won't matter much....I will most likely get a thumbs down for whatever I write, like most everyone else.
I see it like this: Other countries judge us mostly on their political points of view. They do not experience the privileges, freedoms, and beauty this country has. Granted, we have our share of problems, but I feel if the government would focus a bit more on their promises given to the people of our own country, things could be different. Our military men and women are doing their best to uphold our reputation of being land of the free....home of the brave. So, why is it so many WANT to come to America??? Land of opportunity....the American Dream??? The Bush Administration needs to stop handing down the candy coated promises of winning this war that is so unnecessary, and tone down the attitude of "it's our way, or no way", and stop trying to "rule the world". What is it that is printed on our American currency???
"In GOD We Trust"... need I say more!

Well guys sorry you feel so down because you feel your unpopular. Maybe because you think you are the only country in the world and everyone in the world think you have "big heads" Sorry to tell you, that is what we think. We love our country AUSTRALIA the best country in the world. The nicest people in the world, the safest country in the world. We don't have guns and our children are safe at our schools.

Same reason the Jews are so unpopular in some places and have been historically. I wonder if some of the Jews were so self-hating and agreeable to bigotry against their own kind as some of the Americans are nowadays.
For those who say Bush, I wonder where in Europe or the Commonwealths you lived before Bush and were able to ignore the exact same type of bigotry then. Gullible.

because of the arrogance and how they think they are the best. Even though I'm an Amercan but I lived elsewhere to understand the biggest flaw of this country is arrogance of the individuals that make up the American populations. There are many nice Americans but as you remember during election time red states vs blue states, tells you how many dumb sh1ts live in this country.

The USA is unpopular because most countries find that Americans intrude in on their homeland. I often hear about how Americans visit a foreign country, and the people there feel they are ignorant because they are trying 'Americanize' a location that they aren't from.

I don't like Bush administration at all. US used to be the holy land of democracy and freedom for the Old World. But during G. W. Bush's time, because of his war policy to the other countries, the spirit of democracy and freedom has been ruined. US traded her honor for oil. It's not a good bargain.

Being US born and raised, I would not deny we do not help the situation. I would point fingers at a long list of problems starting on how we claimed the US land. The list keeps getting longer. You would be better off in the History section and ask them to develop a list of dumb things US has done to other countries and to their own citizens that upsets the world.
Most currently, our dear Prez and vice-prez is not helping the relations.
