As some Cricket experts expected "Giant killers" Irishmen
could not harm a "Hair to the Lions".
"Darryl Hair "tried so, but everybody know who's right by now.
Ofcourse this was not David & Golaith Match.
Ireland is not Minnows anymore.
Ireland quite rightly shown in this world class show piece, when they were cofronted by world cup favourites.

Ireland's World Cup adventure came to curtain down
with a big learning experience as they bundled out for 77 against Lankans .
Surprisingly vass didn't bother Irish openers.
Instead Maharoof took three wickets in an over.
Spin Magician Muralitharan bamboozled the middle order

All ten Ireland wickets fell for 77 in 27 overs -
23 of those Runs coming from last batters Heroics.
M & M 's Maharoof and Muralitharan shared 8 wickets.
Sheer ruthlessness shown by the Sri Lankans inthis match as Mahela suggested in earlier part of the tournament.
this rightly proved out to be even more destructive performance than the Australians managed.

By Irish Players'special 'chicken dancin' spirit and excitement, they remained buoyant until the end.
Irish campaign has been highlighted by their never say die sirit.
this may be taken as alesson to some top teams ironocally,
specially some lost teams from sub continent.
Boyd Rankin and Dave Langford-Smith finished their World Cup with a wicket apiece.
After Jayawardene put Ireland in, the early overs nothing but intense, lead everyone into a false sense of surprise
Since the start of Maharoof's first over didn't suggest the bounty that would soon come his way.
Beligerent OpenerJeremy Bray who is the only Centurion in the cup, whacked the opening 2 balls to the boundary,
Bray had been deceived by Maharoof's well diguised slower ball, balooning an off side drive.

Surprisingly Ireland changed the batting order, promoting Andre Botha to No. 3.
This experiment lasted 2 balls as he fished one outside off stump with no footwork.
While Botha's was a poor shot, Eoin Morgan couldn't do much about his dismissal - a perfect line and length from round the wicket producing an edge, which Keeper Sangakkara grabbed it mid air low to his left

New ball Bowler Vaas, back in the side after missing the match against Australia along with Muralitharan, wasn't at his best with the new ball,
But Nuwan Kulasekara kept a tight line for the irish openers.
English county players,William Porterfield and Niall O'Brien survived 10 overs before Maharoof struck again
High averaging Porterfield top-edging a pull to mid-on.
BY then, Ireland's problems were only just starting.
At the start of the 19th over Muralitharan - 447 ODI wickets, - took the ball and by the end of it had added two more wickets to his marching towards Pakistan great Akram's world record 500 ODI wickets

Ireland's batsmen are not the first, and certainly won't be the last, to be made to look foolish by Murali's skills.
Most prolific Niall O'Brien edged a conventional offbreak .
Then Kenny Carroll's first World Cup outing lasted two balls before he swept and missed at a doosra. Muralitharan collected one of the easiest four-wicket hauls of his career as the lower order proved clueless against his variations.

Then Maharoof showed hisnew found fielding skills.
Irish captain Trent Johnston drove a ball back down the pitch, Maharoof dived in his follow through, picked up and threw down the stumps at the non-striker's end.
Langford-Smith brought out the long handle, swinging a Six over deep midwicket and shimmying down the pitch to whip Muralitharan through the on side.
It was a heroic shot to tell their grandchildren about; the innings won't be remembered quite so dearly & the stroke was specially to world's most fearsome bowler.
Now this makes semi final selection much more interesting ,Maharoof being 'Man of the Match."
Now Lankans possese 5 match winning Bowlers

Sri Lanka rocked! Ireland was thrashed for jus 77 runs. But I shud appreciate Ireland becuz though Sri lanka is a tuff team, none of the players lost their courage but united in obedience to the call of duty. They were actually having fun. When Sri lanka was chasing, when they were about to win, the Ireland wicket keeper and slips were laughing till their stomach dropped and all their teeth fell out!! They were really enjoying!! They didn't mean to win at all. But they put up big last wicket partnership. Sri Lanka was defintely gonna win. They should have won by 10 wickets. too bad they won by 8...

The better description is Sri Lanka crushed Ireland instead of defeating Ireland. It was totally a one side game.

The match was one-sided I agree. The thing I cant understand is that the lankans won the toss and most probably all the team I knew will elect to bat first if they knew their batting part was quite fragile instead they chose to field first . I will appreciate Ireland as their feilding was ossom! & the way Kumar Sangakara was caught showed their ability of playing good cricket & the chicken dance they danced showed their spirit on cricket.
The lankans were incredible in their bowling , Mahroof was the man who did the damaged & muralidaran was amazing the lower order with his doosra.Jayawardene was captaining the team brilliantly and now he is also batting fast.

We all knew that Sri Lanka is capable enough to beat the IIrish team.
It was stunning to watch the way they dismissed them so early. Good to see Mahela improving his batting ability.
But on the other hand Irish team has lots of potential , they have beaten the up coming rival team Bangladesh, gave a good challenge to England.

great piece Dinith & its an honor to have Sir Don taking part in in Ceylon and in the Sub Continent. i'm not sturdy at stats & historic past yet I heard approximately how long Sri Lanka performed, in the previous getting their attempt prestige. That at the back of schedule prestige additionally helped SL in attaining early success. Its so super to study that the grounds have been complete to observe the excellent batsman. meaning cricket has been getting its due love from our human beings, top from the commencing up & reason we are so fanatic approximately it. additionally agree that bowlers who have been given him out, no count on what form of wickets or in exhibition suits, that they had plenty to boast approximately that to their grand little ones. It actual is a grand success on their areas. do not understand whether or to not get into, what could have been, had Sir Don performed in the Sub Cont often yet although plenty he performed, it grew to become into certainly an honor. an exceptionally sturdy activity, for letting us understand this piece of historic past, thank you..

no competition at all.the only thing the irish were good at was fielding.
that match truly spelled the meaning of one sided.
it was just a walk in the park for the lankans.
