i think most of them don't realize that it is a higher level of play and natural ability can only take them so far.

I think the new rule really helped college basketball. Personally I would prefer to see it extended to 2 years tho. It would make college basketball better and enable some of these kids to become better players. I've seen a lot who went straight to the pros either spend all their time riding the pines or being traded back and forth then disappear. I guess they go overseas to play. I haven't seen anyone play overseas and make it to the NBA but maybe I missed someone.

at the same time as i recognize people who stay for all 4 years, I actual do not pick to flow decrease back to the previous rules. whilst Wilt Chamberlain left Kansas after his junior season, he could not be drafted because of the fact the guidelines on the time pronounced that a participant could not be drafted till his type grew to become into eligible to graduate - that meant 4 years of faculty ball (or another form of basketball) in the previous the experts could desire to draft you. i glance at it this way: if a participant is sturdy adequate, why not flow professional? Shaun Livingston is a important occasion. Had he long gone to Duke (the place he had signed a letter of motive) he could have been injured for the duration of his junior season and by no potential might have made the thousands and thousands he did as a extreme draft %. popping out of high school. for people who communicate approximately "a profession to fall decrease back on" he nonetheless can do this and now he can cope with to pay for to flow to varsity without the coolest thing about an athletic scholarship. additionally for people who think of that a participant shouldn't flow away college, look on the richest guy in the international: bill Gates. He left college for the duration of his sophomore 365 days, by no potential to return. He did not fare too badly.

It sucks they should be able to join the nba after finishing high school. Lets say the #1 high school player gets injured in his first year in college and his nba career never happens, then what? I know he stays in school and gets his degree, however what happened to this being the home of the free and brave, in that scenario he would never get his dream chance of playing pro ball isnt that what america is all about? You start off with a dream and then you work to make it happen.

bob knight was asked this same question and said it was bad ofr college basketball because for those guys who where a lock in the nba draft out of high school who now have to go to college for a year have no incentive to stay in school after the season is over. so really there only in school for two quarters at the most. secondly i think its a complete joke to think they need to stay four years. you can go back and get a degree after their playing days are over. many of those players come from poor families that need the money so to have to wait four years is a big hardship on them and their families. and finally i half agree with that guy who said they can only go so far on phyisical ability, but why not get paid millions to learn that.

Personally I think they should stay in college the full 4 years and get their degree then jump to the NBA. Some of the guys think that they can make it in the NBA and then they don't.

It's better than making them stay for four years, it let's them see what college is like, and if they choose to stay for the last three, then they can, though just like anyone else, why should they be forced to go to college if they never had any plans to, no one else is forced to go to college before they can go on to pursue a career that doesn't require a college diploma, so why should they

In my opinion i think that if a team in the NBA wants to sign them they they should go for it....the reason i say this is because say they are an all around player and a team wants to sign them but they have to go to college first...well what if they get a career ending injury in college? then what do they do? no team will want to sign them then and they miss out on all that money they could have made and end up possibly struggling to make ends meet for the rest of their life...for example look at shaun livingston if he had that injury in college he would never get signed dont get me wrong education is very important but why do we get an education to make money right? if you have a chance to make millions why risk it in college?
