My vote goes to Jack Nicholson, I am from Europe and as far as I comprehend, his casts are as American as America itself, he's intellectual and humorous and cynical, all in one !
Woody Allen I also like very much, being great comedy actor...There are many others, which are great actors, but these two I love the most !
