City of Victory

Hills of bare rock rise beside the swift Tungabhadra river as it swirls and curves through a barren landscape strewn with giant granite boulders. In this daunting terrain, many centuries ago, rose a magnificent medieval city that rivalled the most famous cities of the world - the imperial Vijayanagar or 'the City of Victory'.

Once the Vijayanagar empire dominated the land south of the Tungabhadra river. Its capital city, of the same name, was envied for its rich bazaars, crowded temples and fabulous palaces. Merchants and ambassadors from faraway lands came to its royal court looking for trade and alliances.-

In some web pages Fatehpur Sikri is also referred as City of Victory-

Fatehpur Sikri is called The City of Victory in India.
