how did he get cleared to get a weapon from the gun-shop if he has been 302'd?
and they talk about all these acts of heroism, but why didnt anyone just flat out try to stop the kid? he wasnt that big from what i understand and in a school room setting it is very easy to sneak up on someone.

i love how everyone was quick to say um he had a gun thats why no one stood up to him, but if people were ready enough to block a doorway so he couldnt get through to other students, or another student using their body to block gun shots aimed towards another. dont you kind of think the "um he had a gun" line doesnt work. it does not make sense for someone willingly to put their life on the line for others but do nothing to completely prevent it from happening to others.

I don't think Virginia is a state that does background checks on people, so his mental health record was not in question.
As for why nobody tried to stop him. Well, the obvious answer would be that he had two guns which more than compensated for his "not that big" stature.

Well, I'm not 100% positive, but I'm pretty sure that your private medical records are just that...private. Laws have been passed in recent years to ensure that your medical records are even more tightly sealed than before. It may have worked against us in this case, but I fully support the privacy laws. This kid would have found a way, anyway.
As for trying to stop a man with a gun, I'm sure all that the students saw was the gun. That barrel probably looked mighty big, it all happened in a few short seconds, and the kid had made it clear that he was trying to kill. I've seen many tough men freeze up in situations FAR less dangerous than this.

Most likely he is coming into classrooms with everyones back to the shooter? Taken by surprise? This was not a pistol. He was shooting from a gun in which one had ten rounds in each clip and the other gun had 15 rounds in one clip. Put yourself in these shoes, do you really know how you would react? Are you absolutely sure you could run up to a shooter while he's flailing a gun around shooting rapidly, 15 shots at a time? You would have to make the decision that you are going to die anyway, like the kid that did at Columbine.

If one person is in a room they will fight becasue they know there is no one else there to do it. When you have more people in the room they think someone else will do it.
I dont know what 302'd is but if it is about the whole thing about the mental heath. I have no answer for that. What I do know is that people who want to hurt someone will always find a way. Even the hammer he had shows that. It was all sad and very sick. I pray it never happens again

I was wondering that myself,he had been evaluated 2 times by psychiatrist so how can he get a gun,he passed background check which meant he was not a felon,think laws should include mentally unstable people as well.i don't think i would have done anything either with a person holding 2 guns,unless it would be from behind.

The incidence is most unfortunate. It should not have happened.
But it also shows American system is comitted to absolute personal freedom.
