In modern day society cannibalism has always been a "taboo" subject and has been twisted to reflect the masses opinion on the subject. In different cultures, primarily ancient and under-developed societies, regarded cannibalism as a way to honor their dead by eating them, or for other mystical purposes. While cannibalism itself nowadays in the modern world is only heard about involving pyschopaths and survivor stories, there are still those that practice it following their culture. It really depends on what values a culture understands and embraces.
