I was going to simply say "No", but after reading other answers that you got, it seems apparent that your question was a bit too deep for some of them.

First: unless you grew up around people from different cultures, it's very common to group everyone who looks similar to you into the same group (you know: all Spanish people are 'Mexicans', all Asian people are 'Chinese', etc.), so even though the gunman was South Korean, it would be easy for people to classify everyone from that region as Asian. How many people can honestly say they can tell the difference between Koreans and other Asian people if they didn't grow up around them?

For the few on the fringe who think 'All Asian people are bad', they'll be celebrating saying, "See, I told you so.", just like the wackos who hate Americans do whenever some idiot does something and is American.

Anyone with a brain and common sense can figure out that one person's actions doesn't represent all people from the country they were born in.

We are all responsible for what happened at VTU. I was not an event that was premeditated by the differences of race, or religion. The only people who might have cause for embarrassment are those who choose abuse as if were some kind of game, or sport. We can all treat each other better and support each other better. If we learn only that from this tragedy, it may be enough to prevent some other vacuous soul from reaching their breaking point.

When the Nazis dominated Europe, a large number of Jews came to the US. Before that, there were pogroms and other repressions of Jews in Europe and Asia. They came here for religious freedom, and became an active part of our culture. When Israel was created as an independent nation after WWII, of course American Jews were excited about it, and offered a lot of economic and emotional support. Indeed, substantial numbers went to Israel to visit or to live. Also, Jewish communities in the US donated money to help Israel in a variety of ways. I think it is a mixed blessing that Israel and the US are so closely bound. On the one hand, I support the idea of the nation's right to exist. On the other, it is pretty much a theocracy, which is something I cannot support. I believe strongly in the separation of religion and government.

Hui killed all those people as an individual. I didn't hear he was being patriotic when he shot those people. And I see no reason for anyone to feel ashamed they he did something wrong. That was him and not you.

Now if you were the person who left my chainsaw plugged in and nearly chopped off my fingers today, then you have something to be ashamed of. It isn't easy typing with your hands bandaged up but it is better than not being able to type at all.

No . Because it wasn't the Asian race who did this...It was one man. Now some Ignorant B@stard may see it differently.

No. I think its ignorant to think that just beacuse one person did a horrible thing that their whole race is the same way.

No, I know many people of Asian descent that are awesome (don't know if they're of Korean descent or not, but that really doesn't matter).

didn't change my opinion at all. Race didn't have any effect on how I think about what happened. It was his mental state and that only to me.
