I don't know what series this was from... if it was from Night Gallery, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, etc, etc...). Anyway, I'm searching for more information about an episode that I saw when I was younger.

The episode was about a well (like a water well) and the family who lived in the house that had the water well on the property. I believe there were two parents, and a girl. Every day the girl would go to the well. She started talking to creatures that were in the well. They soon started demanding things of her. When she sent the things down to them with the bucket, they would send it back up with gold or jewels. Eventually the family was murdered by the strange creatures in the well.

Does anyone know anything about this? What is the name? Thanks!

I remember reading a story similar to this, but never saw it on TV. In the story, there's a well or hole in the ground, and for some reason, the people on the surface start lowering things down into it and get jewels back in the bucket they're using. Then they lower a dictionary down and the 'people' in the hole ask for chicken, but some other people lower flashlights down, which are broken by the people in the hole because it hurts their eyes, but they ask for chicken again. The people who lowered the flashlights down that ended up being broken get really mad and go down into the hole in the bucket to make the 'people' down there pay for the flashlights that they broke, and the last lines in the story were something like: The bucket came back to the surface with jewels in it with a note that said "Thanks for the chicken."

I read that a long time ago, but don't remember the name of the book. Sorry.
