It IS worrisome- but for reasons OTHER than those you expressed. I'm concerned we may have made a "martyr" of the guy to others LIKE him- who'll now want to go out in a "blaze of glory" like he did. NBC should've "sat" on those pictures & videos for awhile- until they thought it over alittle. Instead- they went for the "ratings"- & maybe jepperdized more lives. They made a mistake.

Although I did not see the airing of the tape, I must agree with those who say that NBC's airing of it was indeed unnecessary. What possible news value did the video serve? Who did it help? Why did NBC think it was necessary for everyone in the nation to know what happened? Does anyone really think that watching the video will tell them WHY this guy did what he did? The shooting was a tragedy. It was newsworthy in and of itself. Prolonged coverage and speculation, however, serves no one, certainly not the victims and families. Neither do the incessant questions about campus security, gun control, etc. Short of looking every single person up and keeping everyone away from each other there is absolutely no way to prevent someone intent on doing harm to others from doing so. Airing a video the killer made while doing his crime certainly won't do anything more than boost NBC's ratings, which is most likely its only true reason for doing so.

Nobody is concerned when the Media relentlessly hounds celebrities because we have a right to know. Or when the paparazzi, basically killed Princess Diane. They don't report on the tragedies that are happening in Africa, because it doesn't make people tune in or buy papers. Did you care then? The media responds to what people want to see or hear, that is there job. They don't care if it drastically affects someones life, because that is what YOU the viewer wants to know!! It's funny how when it directly effects your life that suddenly you understand the hurt, humiliation, or degradation the media can cause. Of course they should apologize but it is a meaningless apology until the next tragedy strikes.

you ever been picked on to the point where you would wanna kill someone? We're not talking about a preteen, not even a teenager anymore. We've moved on to this kid that held it in longer than anyone. Showing this type of BS on the TV should be an eye opener for everyone. Its sad that we have no say in what our laws should be. We have no say simply because we dont give a ****. This thing will pass. The grieving will not continue. Another news story will overlap this one and sometime in the future, since we didn't give a **** now, samething will happen and the circle will never end. Dont bother gettin mad for just a little bit, its not worth it.

I'm torn. On one hand yes, it bothers me - but on the other hand, seeing it allows for some level understanding about how things like this can happen.
What concerns me about how it's all been aired and distributed is the all the editing. By showing bits and pieces accompanied by the newscasters commentary the whole thing is manipulated. If they're going to show it, just show it, don't milk it to see how many shows you can spread it over. Don't tell me what you think it means, don't talk over it, don't tell me how to feel. All of this only dilutes the horror, and something like this is, and should feel, horrifying. I don't want it to be palatable, don't dumb it down. We need to learn from it, not be entertained.
As for making his dreams come true, it appears to be a little late for it to do him much good.
It's all so tremendously, gut wrenchingly, sad.

I think that the film needs to be aired. but I think it could have been done in better taste and not over and over and over. That's what I find disgusting. As far as him fulfilling his dreams, Cho has succeeded probably far beyond his dreams if fame was what he was after. I've never seen a subject dominate the Questions on Yahoo like this one is doing right now, if that's any measure. Let's face. He really got to us all.

Yes its disgusting..but how else are you going to get a glimpse as a journalist or a tv viewer at home of the inside of a "nutso's" mind if I can use the word "nutso" losely ?
CNN will be broadcasting a segment called "Inside the Mind of a Killer" or something similarly titled with Soledad O'Brien.
MSNBC revisited the Columbine tragedy last night in a special broadcast documentary and showed home videos of Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold as they were practicing for their rampage.

NBC and the others are going to ride this cash cow to the ground. It's all about the ratings. They do not give a flip about your concerns, (or mine for that matter) Remember rather-gate........It's not whether the story is true it's the seriousness of the charge that matters (or something like it)......I will have to agree with you on that one brother.
