Go to the college you would like to attend, and ask to speak with the Director of Nursing. Go speak with them and find out what pre-requistes are required and when you need to apply to their nursing program. Get good grades. If you get your Associates degree it is usually three years. One for pre-requisites, one year for LPN and a year for R.N.. If you do your Bachelors degree, it is usually four to five years. You may want to check the Board of Nursing website in your state and check to see which program has the highest pass rate for national boards. It won't matter if you have a A.S. or B.S. if you cannot pass the state boards. You can e-mail with further questions! Good Luck! By the way B.S. degrees only help move you into management positions in some areas of the country.

You could go through an LPN program, most are only about a year long, go get some experience under your belt, and go back to school to get your RN degree. There are programs at colleges for LPN to RN. Depends on what you want. I have a BSN, and I did make more than an ADN nurse base pay, wasn't much, but it was a bit more, and a BSN RN would surely be looked at first for any type of management position. So it all depends on what kind of nursing you want to . Good Luck!

to go fastest, go to a 2 year RN program. In 2 years you'll be out working and making good pay with good benefits. The 4 year nurses did not make any more than the 2 year ones where I worked. Raises were based on years of experience, not degrees. This was in a major hospital chain.
