Desk top buzzing, probably from the transformer - is it safe, does it matter apart from being annoying!

It's good your power supply is showing signs that it is about to go. Do not wait for the sudden shutdowns, random restarts, or a smoked out PC. Have it replaced NOW!.

Decent power supply for an ATX form factor tower will run you from $25 to $55 and fix 99% of the buzzing noises from where the plug goes in. Can be replaced with a single screwdriver in around a half hour.

Take it to a repair shop as soon as possible.

It sounds alot like a power supply fan could be going out. but you cant know unless your there.

it's better to be safe the sorry.
