Seriously, I keep hearing these people call suicide bombers cowards. But, cowardice usually involves the impulse for self-preservation, and an unwillingness to face an enemy. This is not a question of ethics and suicide bombers, or right and wrong, but what is cowardly about suicide bombing?

A couple notes...
The civilian issue, most Iraqi suicide bombers' victims have been US soldiers, then coalition soldiers...
There is currently no situation where an Iraqi could face an American on equal ground
Suicide, per se, is cowardice, however this refers to a very specific type of suicide.
There is no Qur'anic reward for suicide, (the 72 virgins don't show up there at all) but rather for martyrdom, which involves accepting the call to put one's life on the line.
