Why does is the "Ojects are closrer than they appear" only on the right mirror of a car?

Seriously, why?

It's a (stupid) safety law in the US and canada. Yes, convex mirrors on the RT side.

Convex/Convex in japan. Aspheric/Aspheric in europe. there are some variants where there's a convex/aspheric combo. However, current US law stipulates a flat/convex system for US vehicles.

That mirror on all cars is a wide angle mirror which makes things look smaller to gives you a wider field of view.

It is etched into all convex mirrors. Flat mirrors do not require the notice. (FYI: There are a number of vehicles that have convex mirrors on both sides.)

Interesting question! And fun to read the answers. My gut reaction was it's a simple "right-hand" bias. Most people are right handed. Now, I don't think that's the answer. It's just the conclusion I jumped to instinctively. It will be fun to read the answers from others.
