Th answer to this depends on the % you want to tip. If this is for homework, I'd assume they are looking for 10 or 15%. The way you figure that out is by multiplying the amount of the bill by the % you want to tip. For instance $53.47 x .10 =$5.34, or $53.47 x .15= $8.02. It is just going to depend on the % you want to tip.

Of course you can't. There is no single answer. The "rule of thumb" is to tip 15% for reasonably good service, up to 20% if the server really did a great job or did something special (like preparing doggy bags), and as low as 10% if the service was lousy, or you had to ask the server to do things he should have known to do himself.

I think i could help if i knew the state this question is coming from. I know in Texas you suppose to tip 10% of total bill.
