Wow, good point! I hadn't thought of it that way. I guess I understand that at first they thought it was an isolated attack, not a killing spree. I am certainly not sympathetic towards the killer, but the government keeps cutting back on mental health programs and if these were still in place, perhaps this young man could have received more help when he needed it. At the very least, maybe better, more thorough screening may have detected that he needed to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital for a period of time. Just a tragedy. good post.

First the police did what they'd with what that they had. The campus is a extensive section with many homes to purpose to look after a suspect that must be a pupil that know his way around campus. Anti-terrorism is extra centred on team efforts than individual persons. there's a ingredient called HIPPA and diverse well being privateness rules that are in place and actaully can do a solid ingredient. We do choose extra gun administration regardless of all the uproar over this entire difficulty. different countires have tighter rules on weapons and function a procedures much less violence against its electorate. human beings ought to realize particular you may have weapons yet there desires to be a shrink on what share and what sort.

America is not a "disarmed" country as of yet. It would be fairly easy for anyone to go on a killing spree. The shooter was M.I.A. when the school arrived at the scene. The crime scene was the ENTIRE campus and how many thousands of students??? Do you believe that YOU could have predicted this situation and/or handled it better? Monday morning quarterback?

Element of surprise and knew the layout? The police didn't know the layout of VT. Are you kidding me? Get real. This just shows how inept our law enforcement is in this country. It took TWO HOURS and by the time they showed up, they guy had already killed himself. What a joke! We've paid billions in tax to train these guys for just this time of emergency and the complete blew it. They should all be fired and never permit to work in law enforcement again.

Two hours between the first report and the beginning of the 'Main Show'!! A lot of those students might still be alive if just one teacher or administrator there had had a gun of his own.
But watch the 'Gun Control' voices cry, "Outlaw Guns!".
I'm for the 'waiting period' and one long enough for a background check.
But that's it.

Because the Feds told the Police to stand down until they got there...The police were ticked about it to because they knew that people were being killed. Don't believe me ask the cops and the people that were there that saw this first hand.

It would seem we are not as prepared as Bush would like to have us believe. Considering who much money the government has supposedly spent training law enforcement, it looks like if a group of terrorists attacks were going to have deaths in the thousands due to the slow response of police.

It's the cost of freedom. In the US you are free to do much including kill as many people as you can before you are shot.
Or we could live under a dictatorship like North Korea....you decide.
by the way Terrorism is a term used to describe violence or other harmful acts committed (or threatened) against civilians by groups or persons for political or ideological goals. Most definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear or "terror", are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a "madman" attack), and deliberately target "non-combatants".

Because we have been primed to believe that the terrorists come from other countries. You know, the fight them there - so we don't have to fight them here war......
We don't pay attention to terrorists that live here. I guess people have forgotten all about 9-11 and the terrorists that DID live here.

1. he had the element of surprise
2. he knew the layout of the school
3. he had a captive audience
4. he blocked the exits
5. he was the only one armed
6. he had enough firepower to stop a charge
you can't relate money spent on terrorism to this and it could have been done without a gun also and the deaths could have been much higher
