How do you use those letters that aren't on the keyboard but still pop up sometimes? Like that ae that appears as one letter

click on insert from your toolbar and select symbols. choose from the variety of symbols in the box. there are also shortcut keys in order to access them without using insert, just search for it in the net

Probably somewhere in symbols or special characters.
Open a Word document
click Insert
click Symbol
click the down arrow to select the font you want
click the symbol
click insert
click close

If you are going to e-mail this to someone, be sure to select a font that is widely used - like Tmn Roman or Monotype Sorts. If you don't, and the recipient does not have the font you selected, he/she will not see the character you thought you were sending.

its called the Alt pad. press Alt and use your num. pad for example: Alt + 3 =♥ get it?
but you have to press them at the same time. ok

another way is to go to insert and hit special characters.

In your word proccessor: Insert -> Special Characters.
