Why is this necessary for the public to see? It's glorifying it like it's a movie.

All I can think of is the emotionally deranged people who see this and think it was a really cool idea, just like a movie- and want to try it.

Media is ridiculous.

I just want to add that this WAS a copycat mass killing, considering he referred to Eric and Dylan as martyrs.

I agree Sophie. I also think it could potentially harm the students that survived the day with a constant video reminder. I don't think it was necessary to show the footage. It should have been kept strictly for the investigation purposes. The whole point he sent the package to NBC was so it was shown to the world. In his death, we have aided his cause further again.

I work in media and would say some exposure of the video and package could be helpful, especially to those of us who might like to better identify dangerous people who might carry out similar actions.

I don't think suicide is cool. Some people probably do, and I think it's likely they'll think that without any help from Cho.

To the extent the package might glorify Cho's act I would agree with your take on this and say it shouldn't be overblown.

If you are suggesting that the media is at times lazy and dishonest I couldn't agree more. They blew the Anna Nichole Smith story way out of all proportion to its news value, and Don Imus got way more attention than that story deserved.

Meanwhile events going on in the world are often ignored. Media people often tend to be lazy, biased, ignorant or all of the above.

There was a time when it was essential to have integrity to be a journalist. These days it seems to be a trait to be found in others and challenged by the media.

I don't think this package will cause that much harm, however, and we do need to know something about this sick and deranged person, who is the only one guilty in this crime.

You cannot pick and choose and the majority of the people seeing the video think only at how disturbed this young man was and perhaps will look more closely at their children-are they giving them the emotional security that they need for that is the purpose, to have us realize just what can happen to a human being when there is no system in place to get help when they refuse it. By seeing and hearing the obvious dangerous state of mind more than likely ways will be discussed ,sought to put in place where legally a person ,pesons like him will be made to get help/treatment.Lets not be so shortsighted and quick to give up guaranteed freedoms.

The media is out of control. One lame brain asked a student a question about Cho. He didn't like the students answer and went on to rudely challenge the students answer. The student made the reporter look bad to his credit and never lost his cool. The news media needs some kind of guide lines like act civilized. There making Cho look like a king of killers. Every psycho from here to mars is planning to out do him.

Sophie, The media is a business that generates its profits through public viewership. Releasing the photos of Cho-Seng Hui would captivate everyone's attention.

You are a very beautiful woman by the way!

I agree with the Media is Ridiculous part... but it really all comes down to media as a business. I know we would all like to think of news stations really wanting to just want to tell us what is going on in the world, but it all really comes down to money. We've all seen the single photo of Cho, so when a news station can show him actually talking, everyone obviously will tune in and watch that station getting them more money. That's also why we never see the good stories in the news, its not as exciting, which means less viewers... and sadly less money. It's really kinda sad.

Newsmedia feeds on mayhem, this is why terrorist acts here or in Iraq or anywhere are committed, for media attention. Imagine a world where they got no attention, and, people realized if they were not getting any attention or glory, it wasn't worth dying for because that 72 virgins in the afterlife is just another false promise, I bet there would be a lot less of this mental disorder, and certainly a lot less copycats.

because we the public have a right to this information and it goes to show just how disturbed he really was its not like they are interviewing people who were saying how great of a kid he was and how shocked they are he could do something like this there are enough channels not showing vt related stories if you dont want the full story watch one of them
