It's difficult becuase naturally everyone wants to know what caused this tragedy and inevitably the source of it will be a main point of interest.

At the same time given that this attention is what drives people Cho to do these things, it creates a self-fulfilling prophecy in giving inspiration to other depressed violantly-deranged people with grudges against the world.

I totally agree! Now, all those "invisible psychos" know they can be visible (world-known, nevertheless!) when they die after doing such atrocities. In addition, the whole profile and story of the killer goes up in the news.

He goes from nobody to somebody.

English football (soccer?) used to have these problems with streakers during live matches. Nowadays the camera just shuts off and switch to other cameras when a streaker runs onto the fields. Stop giving the weirdos airtime!

I do not think that the news media is glorifying this tragedy by publishing the photograph and name of the killer. People want to know more about the crime, and news outlets publish more information as it becomes available. It's about the market for news, not appeasing criminality.

If it were just a name and photo, then it wouldnt be glorifying anything, but airing his message, showing all the pictures over and over again, putting him in the spotlight... this is exactly what he wanted and it is indeed glorifying him and shouldnt be allowed.

Yes! By publicizing his photo and rantings, it's giving him what he wanted and perhaps encouraging other deranged copycat psychopaths. We've seen enough already. Let's talk about the heroes instead.

Absolutely. Why give them the fame they wanted? Glorify the victims, let the perp die in anonymity.
