The equation for the fermentation of glucose to alcohold and carbon dioxide is:
C6H12O6(aq) -> 2C2H5OH(aq) + 2CO2 (g)

The enthalpy change for the reaction is -67 kJ.
Is the reaction endothermic or exothermic?Is energy, in the form of heat, absorbed or released as the reaction occurs?

My book doesn't really explain to me how to know when a reaction is endo or exothermic so I'm confused. Thanks for any help at all in advance. I really did try to do this problem, but since i dont know where to start, its really frustrating >.< thanks!

&please do explain a little how the answer is derived
