the issue of climate change, or global warming... it's a heated topic now, although its common, it's still the main 'talk of town' kind of issue...
maybe you can write about littering, or deforestation or any natural disasters, like the hurricane or tsunami or what have you...

What about something as basic as.... what events, occurrences or topics motivated people to actually create or start "Earth Day".
Are they still relevant today and has it changed, improved or got worse?
Why is it important to have Earth Day?
That would interest me actually... I'm sure there is a lot of information on the beginnings of Earth Day and the reasons behind it.

What about going electric?
electric cars are more powerful and faster then gasoline cars,
Its safer for the environment and
you don't have to fill it up all the time.
I'm not an environmentalist but it would be my compromise to reach out to Kyoto quota.
