It makes me feel worse. I say yeah or nod when unable to speak but really that just makes the tears fall faster and more and makes it even harder to try and stop them. Which is agitating cause in your mind you are saying, "DO I LOOK ALRIGHT TO YOU?" It makes me wish that person would just disappear and stop paying attention to me.

Yeah, I hate when people ask me that. I understand that they are concerned and everything, but does it look like I'm alright. Sometimes they ask me if I'm alright, because I have a mad look on my face all the time. But most of the time there's nothing wrong it's just the way I look.

I usually say that I am fine, if I'm upset about something that I don't care to share with them. If it is someone close to me, I will just open up and tell them.
Are you alright, is probably not the best question to ask if someone is obviously upset, but it is the persons way of showing concern, but still giving you the comfortable option not to share what they are upset about with you.

Hehe, the last time somebody asked me that I was pinned under a truck after being run off the road by a semi truck and flipping three times.
I told him (honest to god it was the first thing I said) "Yeah. I just wanted to go on Mr. Toad's wild ride! What the hell do *you* think?"

When I was 8 1/2 months pregnant, my daughter (3) and I were downtown when she fell down in front of me and tripped me as well! She was hollering her head off and I was laying on top of her--a passerby asked me if I was okay!
Gee, I said, does it look like it?

I just say a simple, "I'm fine". Which if someone answered the question like that to me, I would know that something was wrong.

I just shrug it off, don't even try to cover the fact that I'm depressed/sad/hurt/whatever, and said in a quiet voice that I'm fine.
They know I'm lying, and if they keep pressing, I just shake my head and tell them to leave me alone.

If they really want to know (and I'm close to them), I spill everything. If they're asking merely to be polite, I insist I'm fine.

I tell them the truth...if I am not all right maybe they have a trick of the trade that will help me. Why lie?

If they are a friend, I tell them the truth. If not I say I'm fine.
