You need a slave/extension socket and you can wire it to another socket, a junction box or the master socket it makes no difference. If it's an IDC socket have no more than 3 cores per terminal, and just wire colour to colour on 2/3/4/5 with 2pair cable.

Unless your system is a PABX system or some other special system where your telephone is not connected directly to your telco incoming, them it will be quite simple. Most of the house phone lines are from the telco the the simple ones, unless it is recently changed to use the digital cable modem type.
The normal household line can be extended to many other points, only that more extension usually mean more distortion and static due to loss at contact points. It would therefore not required to be wired from the master. Only is rare cases where a privacy socket is used (prevents evedrpopping from extension(slave)) then the slave will not be able to function when the main is in use.

Good luck!

My guess is that's entirely your obligation and your cost if you want it! Your point is taken about every property has a telephone point and there may well be one terminated in or just outside the flat that you are not aware of. Have you contacted the telephone company to explore that and the cost of installation? I suggest you talk to your landlord, express your surprise that this facility is simply not there and suggest he meets the cost or at least you go 50/50. It will be an asset for any new tenancy in the future for him anyway. Failing that, I am afraid that the cost will be entirely yours ..... but you must base that against how long you are likely to be there I suppose. But again, I agree, why no telephone point anyway?

I have bought 2 phones, one plugs into the phone line, the other just plugs into an ordinary electrical socket, it picks up a signal from main line. You can also get them in 4 or i think 6. It is great only needing 1 phone socket. (I also run computer through that line.) Look in Argos, or any electrical retailer. Have been so impressed with them have got some for my Mum. With hind sight i would have had the four pack

Yes it has to come from the master socket, and yes it is a slave socket. The only difference between master and slave is a capacitor coupled across lines 2 and 5 in the master.

You don't need another master but it will make wiring easier, just connect blue/white to 2 and white/blue to 5.If you use a slave you will need to connect orange/white to 3 or the slave socket will work but not ring
