Me and my fiance are thinking of eloping but aren't sure how to go about doing this. We're both 18 years old. Please help us?

We've lived with each other for quite awhile, and we already have an apartment and car. We aren't sure if we wanted to elope or wait to have a wedding when we have the finances for it, therefore we were asking for your opinions. People, please don't be rude or just tell us to go to vegas. We live in Minnesota, so please be nice and give us your opinions. Thank you.

Do you own your own vehicle, apartment etc? Its not too sexy having mom down the hall. If you really want to do it, go to a town hall with your drivers license and birth certificate. Your marriage license will cost you money. Most places like this may be able to marry you on site, or just look in the yellow pages for a justice of the peace who will charge you a fee. Thats it.

Eloping, sounds sort of old-fashioned. Or, do you have to get away from parents? If you want to avoid the problems of a formal wedding, go for it. I offered my daughter big money to elope, hoping to save on the formal wedding. No luck. So try tapping dad for some bucks since he won't have to pay for a big splash. If this doesn't apply, then do the deed the way you want to. Need a marriage license, probably issued in the county where you want to get married. Customary to tip the minister/justice of the peace, judge or whoever performs the ceremony. May need a witness, depending on the State. Good luck.

Well, first you have to find out if you are even old enough...some states still require parents to sign until the age 21. Secondly, you need your birth certificates, valid ID, etc... Any justice of the peace can perform the ceremony. I would recommend going to marriage counselling before doing anything...it'll give you both a better view on what marriage is really like. It's not just about love....it's HARD work to stay married. Good luck to both of you!!

Why are you eloping?

If you are just THINKING of it, its probably not a good idea right now. If you are doing it because your parents dont approve, just wait. Eloping wont make anything better, it will just make people mad at you. No matter how romantic it seems, you dont want to have to face angry parents.

Dont elope. unless you do not have home/family or relatives or friends who will worry about you. 18 years old still too young to understand life.

i eloped...we got married in vegas...we even had drivethru service...pretty much all we did was pay for a bunch of documents at the marriage office then took it to the chapel paid them and then we did our vows and drove off...it was so much more simple than a wedding and all..i would wait and have a vow renewal with a big ceremony till finacially prepared for it...it can b a big stress too though having to tell everyone and their reactions...i was petrified to tell my sisterinlaw we were married...we waited a yr to tell ppl...

It's not customary to tell people when you're thinking of eloping.
