If guns are no longer available to the public then it wouldn't have been so easily have gotten into crazy or criminalistic people. It's the stupid law that we have in this country that which allows guns to be purchased by anyone who can register. Whoopi Doo! Register and you're suppose to be ok with that??? Why do we need to bear arms anyway?? There's absolutely no need to have guns other then to shoot to kill!!! That's what Guns are for Shoot to kill not shoot to injure but kill!!! Don't tell me it's not the gun but it's how it's used! I've heard it before but that logic is flawed. If no guns then no shooting, right? So what's so hard about that logic?

To Matt C: That's exactly I'm talking about you jerks come up with that flawed argument! Didn't you read what I wrote? I said Guns are made solely to kill! Cars on the other hand is made for transportation and if it kills then it's an accident not deliberately made for killing like guns! Idiot!

To Drosky: You're a f*cking idiot! It's Americans like you that make the entire world hate Americans! Can't you people think outside of the box for once?? Just cuz the constitution said it's ok doesn't make it right? It was written almost 2 hundred years ago!! Things change man! Just like voting with electoral college doesn't make sense either in todays world! Wake up!

looks like im going to be different and agree with the original poster. i would love to see the day where guns are just eliminated but i know that probably wont happen in my lifetime. yes, of course there are always going to be black markets and killers will find a way if they want to hard enough, but i believe a major problem is how EASY it is for someone to get their hands on a gun.

Cho bought his gun LEAGLLY in only 10 min. even though he had a history of mental illness, the gun salesman didnt see it as red flag. WHY are guns so easily bought?? in other countries, people need to have at least two other people as references to assure the gun salesman that the buyer can accept the responsibility of a gun. at gun shows, people are allowed to buy guns without any sort of lisense for guns. WHY?

so, guns dont kill people you say? WELL they sure do help a whole damn lot dont they? if that kid was determined to kill but was unable to get his hands on a gun (before of stronger gun control) what would he have used? a knife? maybe he could have stabbed that first girl. thats a WHOLE lot different from shooting 30+ to their immediate death.

so as much as i would love to see guns banned like the person who posted the question, i really believe that much tighter laws for gun control should be made. i dont understand how people can not see guns as a major problem.

Because it's not logic. It's a knee jerk reaction to eliminate the tool, not the problem.
The problem is that this man lost his mind and used firearms to kill people. The reality is that this same person could have easily used an improvised weapon of another type and that would have been just as horrific.
BTW, there was a situation several years ago where a deranged man walked around a school and killed and maimed a dozen or more children with a knife.
BTW, to the person that said we should protest in Washington DC about firearm control should do so after dark. You will get to see how well gun control works.

I dont see why everyone is so hellbent on banning firearms. There is absolutly no way to rid the world of firearms. Its just not possible. IF you could stop selling them and the "law abiding" citizens turned them in, the criminals still wouldnt. and even if they did.... somebody out there has the knowledge to make them from home. Look at a potato gun, a few simple things from your local hardware store and you have a deadly weapon. People should just give up on trying to rid the world of guns, drugs, or anything else that might be of mention in this time of day. People say that cars and guns are not a comparison ... what about Tobacco.... I seen on a chart that it kills over 400,000 anually where firearms kill 32,000 .... yet NOBODY talks about banning tobacco.
I read on a post for a different question that in the UK, guns are banned but since the banning.... death by firearms have went up... so you tell me ... in Florida (usa) since the lightning of the sale for firearms, the toll went down. I am an owner/carrier of a handgun myself and I can tell you that myself along with the other millions of law abiding gun owners would never allow such a ban to happen.

What's so hard about that logic? You are operating under a false premise. The argument usually goes "Guns don't kill people. People kill people." People *do* use guns to kill other people. That's true. I think you're assuming that if you take the gun out of the equation then murders will cease to occur.

Replace the word "gun" in that equation with every other lethal object you can think of. In the end the only thing in common is the "people" part. In other words, people kill people with guns, knives, bombs, baseball bats, cars, poison, etc.

I prefer the phrase "Guns don't kill people, murderers kill people...with anything they can get their hands on."

P.S. The serial numbers were filed off. That is strong evidence that the guns were acquired illegally in the first place.

I can tell that you do not own a gun, but if you are like most LAW ABIDING citizens then you would relize that guns are valuable tools for some familys, for instance they are a good resource to have for food, they are also a good resource to have to defend your FAMILY and home...and if you outlaw guns it would be like proabition all over again. People will make there own, and sell them on the black market, Now that is dangerous. Guns dont kill people.....Idiots kill people..besides that the gunmans teachers said his writings were graphic and bloody and that they suspected that something was wrong..When are people going to quit blaming everythign else or everybody else instead of the ones that need to be blamed..

ban nudist camps with adults exposing themselves to children and forcing children (below the age of consent) to run around naked, then sell their videos on the internet, get rid of organized crime (like the ones who run those camps and gov.), drug test everybody (students, cops, judges, gov. employees and politicians) so don't have "drug-crazed" driving or bearing arms. like your priorities "what the.." NOT

get rid of the drug dealers and drug pushers in elementary schools

one thing is they need to get rid of loophole where individuals and gun-shows can sell guns without a background check to felons, drug dealers (pushers, etc.) and to people like him, at least they do the check quickly now, that 7 day thing was a big scam, if so strict why not individuals and gun shows, organized crime and the gov. 101

look at Britney Spears, even an umbrella can become a "deadly weapon" or WMD : )

yeah, look at the question poster and the way he is stating, i bet that the virginia tech murderer used to try deceive people (act like against guns, etc.) like original Psycho movie where the murderer said, "...i am not going to kill this fly, they will see this and say, he wouldn't even kill a fly..." either that or a felon that has some other disqualification that can't own a gun, so doesn't want anybody else to either, whatever...

OK, let's stop this war on guns vs anti-guns. What guns represent is that citizens can take the law into their own hands at the end of the day on a massive scale. This means massacres on a grand scale can happen against people who are defenseless. Guns can kill from a distance, try doing that with a knife. Guns allow an even more violent society because it permits people to become more aggressive and irrational in an otherwise difficult situation where one has to rationalise things through w/o a weapon as an answer.

It's just like money to people. If people easily come into money they have less respect in how they treat others vs. people who have had to work hard for their money and learn to value it more. Guns create disrespect for human lives. This is no longer the Wild West, you've abolished slavery cos it was wrong against human nature, now abolish guns. Guns also violate peacefulness amongst humans. That is why we have the police to protect us and be properly trained in the use of weapons. They are the only ones besides the military who should use guns. In most Western countries, guns are banned, even in the UK the police can't carry guns unless it's for special purposes. Now we see that over 30 people have been murdered. Let's not hope this record gets any bigger in the future. Pls ban violent films, videogames and guns. Protest against guns in Washington DC!!!

(Jello Pro above)

. Those expletives from your mouth is unnecessary to get your point across. I am not a liar, go do some research on the internet and you will find many major countries in Europe bans normal guns for ordinary usage. I am British by the way so I know what I am talking about. As for your insult, you probably have never travelled outside of the US cos you sound like a typical Yank. So what would you know about other countries?? You can yell all you want you armchair activist and lose your temper easily but that is not giving you any credit. Use your brain, not anger when speaking.

I think the gun has nothing to do in the situation.

if you read in of the articles about the killer you will find out that he has a history of mental illness

i don't think that will happen a no gun situation too many people are set on the right to bear arms besides what about people who hunt

drugs are illegal people still get them

i think it will be more difficult and expensive to get a gun but still possible

When you find a way to get every gun, off every street, let me know. Till then, you can't take guns away from law abiding citizens. And count on criminals to turn them in. This is REAL life, it is not rainbows, and unicorns. And until that day happens, I will exercise my 2nd amendment right.

The simple flaw in YOUR logic is that guns can not kill, it takes a living breathing person to operate it. If some one wants to kill they will, gun or no gun.

If you want to debate this keep in mind that the car kills more people annually than guns. You want to ban cars?
