Your computer could really be old if it is using SDRAM. It might not be wise to spend some more on it. Buy a new one. New budget PCs won't make you broke.

If your computer is already using ddr, it could be worth it to spend a bit on RAM upgrade plus some more on the other components.

To burn CDs or even DVDs, you just need one drive plus the right software like Nero for example. Better get a DVD writer. It will do almost everything. Usually it's got Nero and Power DVD bundled in. It would cost you around $40-50, depending on the brand. The DVD combo is cheaper, but it only writes on CD.

Memory ranges in cost from $40 for 512 MB(MegaBytes) to $120 for 2 GB (Gigabytes). Your better off replacing your CD Drive for a CD/DVD Combo drive and that will cost around $50-$100 depending what name brand you decide to choose. Bestbuy will install it all on your computer for a fee, which i'm not sure what that fee is, but if the computer is more than 3 or 4 years old, your better off getting a new one because it's outdated and it goes down in market value.

I hope this was helpful.

Good luck.....

Theoretically yes, it would be less expensive.
Any local computer shop, Best Buy, CompUSA, etc. can do it.
My charge would start with a minimum of $75 for labor which would cover installing new memory, and I'd say that's about average. There are also labor prices at Best Buy's website to give you more of an idea on costs.

Though memory alone may not necessarily give you any improvement, depending on existing hardware and what you do with it.

The best thing for an older machine is to install Linux on it, as it is much more efficient with hardware than windows is.

you can find ram/memory and CDrom drives on sale at places like Fry's and circuit City just check adds in paper.
Since you did not say age ,operating system, present amount of ram and hard drive it would be hard to give answer. But ram is expensive, and CD drive depends on brand and features, get one that will wright - read - and re wright and has good speed.
Hope this helps

Any computer repair shop can do it, shop around and ask them how much it would cost you to upgrade the memory and add a CD Burner, you can really save if you know how to install them yourself, because the parts are not expensive, it's the labor that will cost you so it's best to shop around.

i did not be attentive to AMD made reminiscence, yet that would not count. 4GB is greater advantageous than sufficient for you. in case you purely has 512 first of all, i anticipate you're engaged on a 32 bit OS. Win32 purely will use 3GB of RAM, so no element in getting greater advantageous than 4GB. installation RAM is ineffective straightforward. Open you computing device, do away with the present ram, and press the hot ram into the slots. in case you have diverse coloured slots, placed one stick on one colour, and the different in the different colour. initiate your computing device and it will immediately come across the hot ram and initiate.
