"What's your problem?"

This is for 2 reasons...first being they might freak out on you for asking such an insensitive questions and second being because they might actually sit and tell you ALL their problems...

Don't say anything to put them down. As in, not saying they are crazy, weird, stupid, psycho, insane, go take ur medicine, and stuff like that. I know, my husband says it to me and I break down. I definitely have depression/emotional problems, but I'm NOT crazy, he's just a dick.

Calm Down- it just sets them off(well at least her). My best friend is bipolar and I innocently told her to calm down in a reassuring tone and it just made her loose it even more!
