I have also heard this from a reptuable source. I have never tried it, but heard about it from a health site I get mail from.
I do know it can't hurt. . .

A friend told me that a friend of hers said a friend of hers said it never fails. ... I figure that resource is worth a try, but not the most reliable. So I tried it. My daughter complained about me telling her to sleep in socks and ended up washing it off. It did clear her up a little - but no more than vicks on the chest would have. When she shared the cold with me - I tried leaving it on my feet all night, then washing my feet and reapplying it twice the next day. It initially helped - but within an hour I felt the same. Similar to how I would have felt putting the stuff on my chest. I think you should go ahead and try it though. Can't hurt. (unless your kid is sensitive or allergic to the ingredients) If you do - let me know how it goes. And since it's winter, I will remind you not to leave an electric blanket on the feet with vicks. (which you aren't supposed to use electric blankets on little kids anyhow. but i know it can be tempting on cold nights if you have one.) I hope the cold goes away soon. Sounds like my daughter is getting one too.

It's actually true! believe it or not! Just rub their feet with Vick's vapo rub and cover them with something (a handkerchief or bandanna or a piece of cloth) made of silk, finally ask them to wear socks on top of it. Keeping their feet warm will help them get better. Here, in Peru some elderly people think the virus enters your body through your feet.

I have tried that!! I used the Baby Vick's though. Then I put socks on her feet. Don't use a lot of the vapor rub stuff though. It worked on my little girl....idk if it'd work on your kids, but hey, it's worth a shot!! Good luck! Hope all of you get to feeling better :D

May I say that when I was growing up my Mother used to do this to help my breathing at night. It is best done whilst the child sleeps as the vapor seeps up under the blankets and eases the coughing through the night. I believe it helped me!
Good luck and get well soon! :)

My mother in law believes in Vicks. She told us to rub some on my daughters chest when she had a bad cold and cough. It helped. Now, we use it.

yeah my mom used to do to me when I was little lol, she would put it on my feet, and my chest and back. Also you know what its good for, say your kid falls down and bumps his head or something, and it looks like its going to leave a huge bump rub some vicks on it and it will help it go down. My ex mom in law taught me that, and her mom in law showed her that lol, but yeah she didnt believe it at first, but I tried it with my son and it really worked.

I haven't heard this before and don't see any physiological reason it could work, but it wouldn't harm their feet if there were no open sores on them.
