Why are people so upset about the Virginia tech killings but aren't even phased by the carnage currently happening in the Middle East? Why should I treat the 30 students any differently than the 180+ that died today from terrorist bombings in Baghdad? Why should I treat them any differently than the hundreds of US soldiers dying every year in combat? Or what about the 20 Iraqi police officers that were just executed and beheaded on film? Yeah, that’s right, I shouldn’t treat them any differently, and that’s why I don't care that much about the rampage at Virginia Tech.

Maybe this will wake our stupid country up and we’ll stop blaming the movies, stop blaming rap music, stop blaming violent video games, and START blaming the sophisticated & deadly weaponry that is so easily accessible. Forget gun control, it needs to be ILLEGAL to own anything but hunting rifles.

Did you know U.S. corporations produce over 250,000 9mm pistols per year? Not only was a 9mm used at VTech, but the 9mm is a favorite amongst inner-city gangs and thugs. So much of a favorite that you can hear 50cent sing about them in his rap songs! So many weapons are produced in this country that, if you can’t get one legally (which you probably pretty easily), you DEFINITELY can get one on the black market for not much more. This problem can be obviously remedied by cutting off the supply and making guns ILLEGAL once and for all! Please, lets make our streets a LOT safer and make guns illegal!

edit: For those that use the excuse “criminals will always buy their guns illegally” , I have a simple economic question: What will happen to the total supply of guns on the black market if guns are made illegal in the United Sates? Clearly, the supply will diminish. Hate to break it to you guys, but black market weapondry isnt created in some shady illegal arms factory. U.S. Manufacturers will cut their production, and prices for illegal weapons will price out most people.

The media reports on situations that are closer to home because they know it will probably affect them more than a place that thousands of miles away. =\

Every death of innocents is sad and worthy of our attention and no loss of life should be dimished. Since the gun is only the method used it makes no sense to have as the answer to these tragedies not occurring again simply be to ban guns. The person who killed was a deeply disturbed individual filled with darkness and hate and were there no guns available another means would have been found by him like fire, poison and others. If you consider just the two I've mentioned being used the possibility of More being killed is very real. A example of gun control, the banning of guns not making a change, not lessening crime.acts of violence is Great Britain. A British citizen etc is not allowed to carry a gun only law authorities and the like can and there is widespread violence . The only way to prevent but cannot fully prevent is to set guidelines when perhaps treatment can be forced on a individual that shows continued signs of being deeply disturbed like a 30day involuntary commit to Psychiatric facility with the Coroner or someone else in similar authority being able to legalize the necessary papers.

I consider you in this element. the folk lack of life in Iraq are in basic terms as tragic because the 32 deaths in VT. extra tragic are all the different deaths that are literally not said because they do no longer impact america or are literally not of interest to the major information conglomerates. do not fall for the former argument that if there have been no guns that there might want to be no gun deaths. i do not even personal a handgun and that i comprehend this. you does no longer be able to even argue that element if he had used a organic gas leak to blow up the completed construction or a bomb strapped to his body. in undeniable truth that this guy grow to be a finished mess and necessary help. i'm no longer confident that there might want to be a lot that could were carried out. That being said...what you've said may be construed by the households and acquaintances of 32 gunshot victims in Virginia Tech as a large fat slap contained in the face. Take the information you word and pay interest to favourite because it truly is and please do no longer opt for to insult the chance free. it quite is amazingly a basic disgrace.

you do got a point about why should we treat this shooting different then anything else that happens around the world. You could say the same thing about september 11th. Well, I think it is different from the U.S. soliders because people say they are fighting for our country. Well, to me only thing it is doing is killing our soliders and nothing is getting better. I think things that happen in the United States are treated different than what happens outside the U.S. It doesn't have a huge impact because we have the thought that it can't happen in the U.S. instead it happens in Baghdad or somewhere else.

Because, dumb ***, it happened right here in this country to innocent people who were at school learning, or to innocent people who went to work that day. Yes, the occurances you mentioned are awful as well, but when it happens in your own backyard (not half-way around the world) it really, really brings it home and it hits hard.

Hey! You can't judge all of the people who care about the Virginia State students by some who don't care about other situation. I care about any situation when innocent lives are taken. No matter what!
