Why are people so upset about the Virginia tech killings but aren't even phased by the carnage currently happening in the Middle East? Why should I treat the 30 students any differently than the 180+ that died today from terrorist bombings in Baghdad? Why should I treat them any differently than the hundreds of US soldiers dying every year in combat? Or what about the 20 Iraqi police officers that were just executed and beheaded on film? Yeah, that’s right, I shouldn’t treat them any differently, and that’s why I don't care that much about the rampage at Virginia Tech.

I’m actually kind of glad this happened. Maybe this will wake our stupid country up and we’ll stop blaming the movies, stop blaming rap music, stop blaming violent video games, and START blaming the sophisticated & deadly weaponry that is so easily accessible. Forget gun control, it needs to be ILLEGAL to own anything but hunting rifles.

Did you know U.S. corporations produce over 250,000 9mm pistols per year? Not only was a 9mm used at VTech, but the 9mm is a favorite amongst inner-city gangs and thugs. So much of a favorite that you can hear 50cent sing about them in his rap songs! So many weapons are produced in this country that, if you can’t get one legally (which you probably pretty easily), you DEFINITELY can get one on the black market for not much more. This problem can be obviously remedied by cutting off the supply and making guns ILLEGAL once and for all! Please, lets make our streets a LOT safer and make guns illegal!

edit: For those that use the excuse “criminals will always buy their guns illegally” , I have a simple economic question: What will happen to the total supply of guns on the black market if guns are made illegal in the United Sates? Clearly, the supply will diminish. Hate to break it to you guys, but black market weapondry isnt created in some shady illegal arms factory. U.S. Manufacturers will cut their production, and prices for illegal weapons will price out most people.

Because it was a tragic event that happened at a place where most people feel safe and do not see this kind of tragedy. I agree that the media should not over sensationalize what happened, but still a life is a life and it should not matter who died. Unfortunately since this happened in a country not used to this kind of attack the deaths in Iraq barely made a blip on the radar screen.

No one is asking you to treat anyone differently. It is still a tragic loss to those who lost loved ones, it was totally unexpected. I think the element of surprise is what made it worse. Unfortunately it has become common nature to pick up any newspaper or turn on any news show and here of more Iraqis or Soldiers being killed. America is at war and with war one has to expect casualities.

I trust you in this element. the human beings dying in Iraq are merely as tragic because of the fact the 32 deaths in VT. extra tragic are all the different deaths that are actually not reported because of the fact they do no longer impression usa or are actually not of pastime to the terrific information conglomerates. do no longer fall for the previous argument that if there have been no weapons that there may well be no gun deaths. i do no longer even own a handgun and that i understand this. you does not be waiting to even argue that element if he had used a organic gasoline leak to explode the completed development or a bomb strapped to his physique. in actuality that this guy grew to become right into a finished mess and mandatory help. i'm no longer confident that there may well be lots that could have been executed. That being reported...what you have reported might desire to be construed by using the households and pals of 32 gunshot victims in Virginia Tech as a great fat slap interior the face. Take the suggestions you spot and hear referred to as that's and please do no longer prefer to insult the harmless. it extremely is extremely a undeniable shame.

1) Because students go to college with the intent of learning, sometimes just partying, but not dying. I'm not saying i don't care about the soldiers in Iraq or those fatalities but the people going over their know full well what they are getting them selves into.
2) It is the worst school shooting in US history.
3) Guns don't kill people people kill people. Making all handguns illegal isn't going to solve the problem. The government made weed and drinking illegal for those under 21. Yet "a lot" of people still smoke weed and "a lot" of kids under 21 still drink.

I do care but the thing is, there are really bigger issues bigger problems in our world. So far its just been the center since it happens in the US, since the Politicians are riding on the issue, grieving to those who died but forget the reason why this kind of things happen.

What I am tying to say is that we feel bad about what happen but do we really know what happen, why it happen and how it happen? So theres no particular solution how to prevent this kind of tragedy. Can we admit to ourselves that we often disregard the feelings of others or did we care enough for others. Why should we? That would be your reaction right!? Thats the Problem we failed to understand those things, simple things, in fact we dont see them as part of our everyday life...not important.

Sometimes there is too much ego, pride, greed, selfishness that we let into our spirit and overcome our sense of morality. We often discriminate people, we are racist, and we deny it. I would admit I was but not for long. Its not too late, we must not let this happen again.

Its very simple but can you do the simple things.

Thats Pride and its wrong.

First off I agree with you about the false blamming of rap music and movies. But I don't agree with not caring about the masacre. Yes there are bombings in the Middle East but they are all killing each other so I have no sympathy for them but I do for the police officers. I don't want to sound like I have no heart but it sounded like he felt like an outsider and wasn't respected.

It sucks that U.S. soldiers are being killed over there but then again they signed up for it. I know people who want to sign up just to get the money when you can get scholarships for school not inlist. I know all guys have to inlist in the selective services if there was a draft but no one asked them to inlist in the military. I believe that they men/women who died, died with honor in fighting for their country but the men who complain about going back or even going at all is ridiculous. You know the risks so don't complain about the consequences.

When I was pregnant at college last semester not ONE person, that I hadn't previously known, acknowledged me nor told me hello. I didn't make any friends and my own roommate at my dorm shut me out. I'm a quiet person when it comes to not knowing anyone but still, you shouldn't be inconsiderate of others. It was hard for me considering there are 33,000 people at my school and no one ever said "hi" nor smiled my way. He may have had some other issues with his mental well being but it is difficult to make friends when no one tries to make friends with you. I think he did this because he wanted to be known and he will be. He'll even go down in history. He just could have done it another way like winning a Nobel Prize for something he wrote.. I don't know.

I don't believe that the supply of guns will diminish if they were illegal. Drugs are illegal but I could get some from my friends... or anyone. I do believe that guns are needed in some cases. If there is a robber in my house I don't believe that I could take down a man who is six feet tall with a knife when I'm barely over five feet. How am I going to save myself?

Even though they do back ground checks, any one including Cho who doesn't have a criminal background can have one soon after getting the gun.. I think that it should be harder to get guns but many people have them hidden within their own homes. It's scary when an ammunition shop gets robbed though. There was one in New Orleans and if it's that easy to rob a gun shop it's even easier to get a gun. I just wish we could find a way so it isn't so easy.

Nobody's asking you to treat them differently, only to care equally and have some respect for the grieving families instead of using ANY tragedy to launch a personal tirade that pushes your own political beliefs. Feel better now, do you?

You would have never asked that question if your mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother, cousin, aunt, or uncle was one of the 32 people killed at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, better known as Va Tech.

Well, honestly I'm not going to read the whole thing, but of all the un-newsworthy stories you see, why did you choose this? I mean there's Paris Hilton who is always in the news, astronauts wearing diapers cross country, Imus no longer in the morning...
