Not to get you excited, but I know that people have regularly gotten the e6600 past 3.5 GHz. This would take some nice cooling equipment.

You did pick the right chip to overclock though!

Overclocking will absolutely void the warranty. If you plan to overclock, you have to being willing to take the risk of potentially damaging your processor, so if you are not comfortable with risk, stop right here.

Now as for overclocking, it is a lot more complicated then just us telling you, go here in the BIOS and punch this number in. You have to be willing to dedicate some time, I mean several hours of time, to do a safe overclock, else you tremendously increase the risk of damaging your processor.

Now a lot of people are going to tell you not to overclock, its dangerous, it isn't worth it etc., that is not what I am saying. What I am saying is that it is not a simple task, and you need to be willing to put the work into it that it requires, but done correctly, it is actually very safe, and your chances of damaging the processor are low. If you want further help, feel free to email me, its in my profile.

Hi. Overclocking is fun! Two main ways are to increase the FSB in BIOS or increase the multiplier or both. Get a monitor for your CPU temperature and make sure you do not exceed the max temp allowed. MBM5 works as does SpeedFan. Kiss the warranty goodbye, but hey, that's half the fun, no?

If you smell smoke after over clocking, it is usually your warranty burning up.

Overclock if you can. There are some good sites out there to help. Some motherboards and chips are better than most for OC'ing. I have never been successful at it.

At the same time, the RAM, and chipset will be running at faster clock speeds. These chips will get hot, very fast. Your ram should have a heat shield, and you can obtain heat sink/fans for the Northbridge/Southbridge also.
