We are supposed to be a country united, and yet every night on Yahoo!Answers, I see questions that are rude and just downright insulting directed at certain races. When 9/11 hit, we banded together and became a country who cared about each other and stood by each other. Where has that attitude gone?
Whether we are black, white, hispanic, asian or other, we are all people with emotions, dreams, plans for the future, homes, cars, we put our pants on the same way.
What do you eat? I bet a lot of it isn't "white" people food. What do you drive? I bet a car from Japan. God blessed this planet with different people, so that we may enjoy a diverse culture and enjoy life to the fullest. Why do so many of you put down people from other races? What makes you think your race is better? If anything, it lowers your credibility as a human.
You want to be truly supreme? Then live life the way Jesus did; if you can't, then please shut up!!!
In case you're wondering, I'm white.

I agree with your point 100%. America is an ethnically diverse country and as individuals living in this country many of us take pride on how our country has evolved to reflect the melting pot ideology. As a nation we have pushed for decades to create diversity in America; attempting to create a more just society yet we are reminded everyday of the racism that continues to exisit. Society tends to hold misperceptions, negative stereotypes only enhanced by the media and things we are bombarded with on a daily basis. we cannot make progress as a nation in creating unity and equality for everyone when so many of do not believe in it. Racial prejudice both individually and institutional continue to play important role in achieving equality and it seems it might be an unattainable goal. Negative stereotypes that have been assigned to various cultures have been perpetuated based on cultural differences. Society has come to think of several minority populations in general, as a group that drains the economy by living off of welfare, criminal behavior, laziness, antisocial, idiocy, promiscuousness, and helplessness. Society must understand that minorities have to deal with cultural, structural and economic barriers imposed on them by the society they live and this is not conducive in assisting the minority population to uplift themselves. We believe in America as a land of opportunity and equality, yet so many people in our country are deprived of the basic human right to be treated with respect. What makes one race better than any other? This country did and does not belong to any race we all co-habitat in this nation and must come to terms with the fact that as time progresses diversity will not diminish but continue to progress. For those of you believing otherwise you are ignorant in believing and assuming that you or anyone else is better than me or any other individual based on skin color. That is what it is skin color pigmentation of skin, it does not determine or make a person who they are.

I totally agree with you. Words hurt people and it is not necessary for people to be hurtful to each other. We all depend on Jesus for each breath we take, we should be grateful and try to help each other. The only time someone should be looking down at another, is when they are trying to help them get up.

The behavior after 9/11 was fake, it lasted all but one week.
This nation has ALWAYS been like this and yahoo answers is proof of that.

i don't see that many derogartory questions about blacks, asians and mexicans. but i do see an equal number of derogatory questions about white people, fat people, homely people, insecure people, arrogant people, christians, gays, jews, lesbians etc.
so why don't you give up playing the racist card and go away? its boring and its lame and quite frankly we are all getting pretty tired of it.
