24% of 10,000 is what number?

24% as a decimal is 0.24
'of' means multiply

What you have then is:
0.24 x 10,000 = 2400.

There are 3 types of % question:
I have all three on a page at my website with an easy way to remember what and how to solve them. Might be worth a look. Scroll to the bottom.

Here is how you can find the percent of anything: Multiply the number the percent amount with the decimal moved two places to the left. So 24% of 10,000 is 0.24 x 10,000 which is 2400.

Here is a bit of practice: What is 24% of 12? What is 24% of 1245? Easy! 12 x 0.24 = 2.88. 0.24 x 1245 = 298.8.

Get it?

How about 24.5% of 15? Simple! 15 x 0.125 = 1.875.

I hope this helps!

Read the question out loud and substitute:
"of" with a times sign
(we write * instead of x, so it doesn't get confused with "x" as a variable)
"is" with an equals sign
"what number" with an x

so
24% of 10,000 is what number
turns into
24% * 10000 = x
.24*10000=x
2400=x

Alright. For these questions, you need to know how to translate word problems into sentences.

% = per 100

of = multiplication

is means =

so :

24/100 times 10000 = 240
