I think it's a terrible idea. Officials in the Columbine tragedy sealed records in hopes of preventing copycat killers. Glorifying Cho (and giving him what he wants by broadcasting these tapes) might unfortunately encourage copycats.

Furthermore, I personally can't stomach any more gruesome details in this case. And I certainly can't watch the news now because they're playing these tapes that the killer made. I'm having nightmares about this tragedy and I wasn't even there!

Absolutely . Ted Kazcznsky ..the unibomber wanted his manifesto published too . Why feed into that ? Ratings ? Agendas ? Mainstream media has no shame, or morals .

I thought once was enough. Only NBC should have shown it, not all the news stations and I have seen it more then three times. I get so sick of the news going on and on about the same story and no letting it go. I wish this video from the shooter would never again be shown, but that will not happen. By showing the video so much we are letting him win and get all the power and that is what he wanted. We do not want him to get the power and glory. I feel just awful for Cho's family. My thoughts and prayers go out to all the families of the victims and Cho's families and also all the others affected by this.

I agree with everything you said. This type exposure just encourages copy cats and gives the mentally ill, persons who feel like victims or plain evil people to up the ante. They put no value on human life, crouch in the corners or our society and crave some recognition even if it is for such otrocious acts.

Enough is enough. I feel as you do; the news is too disturbing and it makes me wonder how much horror do we have to be subjected to? We can all mourn for such tragedies but to be fed this 24 hours a day benefits no one. Certainly not the victims or their families. It should not be allowed, it is exploitive and encourages copy cats.

These psycos do not value their own life or anyone elses and they think "I too will go out in a blaze of glory'! Sickening

Personally, I think it makes no material difference to broadcast the tape.

For one thing, the shooter is dead. There is no way to convict him.

For second, people have been guessing and talking about all the possible (worse case) senarios ever since the event happened. The real version is no worse than those speculative speeches.

Tell you what... There is an amazing device on every TV called an OFF SWITCH! Turn off your TV for a few days and don't watch the news. We already know enough about the incident. It is a very sad case for all those involved. We don't have to keep hearing about it. I stopped watching TV for about few weeks after 9/11.

I strongly disagree with the statement made that we are only watching what we want. While I understand that I have the choice to change the channel, the news media and their parent broadcasting company will ultimately get to decide what we get to choose from. We have only two choices: take it or leave it? For the "...land of the free..." that sounds pretty sad, no?

Yeah, I think it was a little unnecessary, but bound to happen. No way is a news station going to let something like that fall into their laps without airing it. And now at least everyone knows for certain that the guy was just a complete nutcase...not like he left any doubt in our minds, but still.

Yes,but the US is moraless,a sense of respect for all of us and for the families is less important than a surge in ratings.

It's the American way.

I feel ill having to see any of it,and I live all the way in Australia so I cant imagine how the US handles tradgedy being exploited so much.

When I looked at the pics on-line I immediately thought about the families who had lost a loved one. To see the exact same image that their loved ones saw right before they were shot to death at point blank rage. It was very wrong for them to air that. I don't think that any of those pics should have been aired. He did commit suicide, his life was just as valuable as his victims were. No regard at all.

I think that news are willing to go very far....I just dont like the fact that they are actually showing the pictures of him holding a gun to his head and a knife to his throat. But now a days you see that type of stuff on any channel any giving day or time

This was Cho's plan to hurt us who watch the movies and see the pictures. He was mentally ill but also a very smart man.
