We have an old table from the 50s or 70s and the legs are rusty. I would love to find someone in Chicago who can re-chrome them or know how to clean them up.

Re-chroming is a pretty expensive process. It requires stripping and re-plating, and would cost lots more than the table.

If you're only concerned with esthetics, you could strip off the rusted chrome and then spray with a Krylon paint that looks like chrome.

Use WD-40 and 00 or 000 steel wool for cleaning and removing rust/chrome.

I'm not in Chicago but I assure you there are metal plating services there. Look under Metal plating or chroming in the phone book. this is the kind of stuff they do all the time. When you take it to them they may tell you it just needs cleaned an buffed which they can do as well.
Good luck.

Check the phone book under electroplating. It is not a cheap process. In your case, it may be worth the cost though. I worked at a plant that rechromed auto bumpers and it was cheaper than a new bumper.

Here's a cheap temporary fix.
Rub the hell out of them w/ aluminum foil.
If you want to have them replated, be prepared to pay.
Search for" electroplating "in your area..
Some places that advertise "rechroming" send their work out.
See if a performance or motorcycle shop will tell you where they have their chromework done.
Good luck
