Zoos have to get special permits for endangered species. They can have them but it is extremely unusual. I have seen virtually all the other animals mentioned in zoos. In fact the St. Louis zoo has most of them.

Dogs and cats are missing however, as is the donkey.

A colleage and I were having trouble with getting some animals imported for research because a related subspecies was endangered. The zoo was unable to as well without going through a LOT of red tape.

We don't have to go to a zoo, because the animals are all around us!

I live in the outer suburbs, in Victoria, Australia, and at home I see several different kinds of birds, both native - galahs, corellas, cockatoos, crows (ravens), herons, ibis, willy wagtails, wrens and finches, and non-native - sparrow, starling, and pideons.
Animal wise we have mice, skinks (little lizards), blue tongue lizards, and frogs. Once I even had a Red-bellied Black Snake in my back yard!
Insects - there are literally thousands - including spiders, worms, caterpillars, moths and butterflies, ants, and so much more. If your interested, you could get a book called "The Backyard Jungle"
Domestically we see cats, dogs and chickens and ducks, fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, and various cage birds.

One thing to keep in mind is that some zoos have farm animal exhibits that showcase local breeds of farm animals, as well as zoo education animals that could include things like guinea pigs. Also, some of the animals other people have mentioned might be on the zoo grounds, but they might be stored as zoo animals' food and not where the public can see (e.g. rats).

well i have seen frogs at a zoo...you are least likely to see barnyard types of animals..sheep, cows, goats, pigs, horses. You won't really see fish and whales and seals, walruses at a zoo..but you would see them at an aquarium

I've seen frogs and cows. I've never been to a zoo that has rats or guinea pigs or hampsters.
