sure that my Top Contributor award was key to me getting an interview. Would it be unethical for me to pretend that I continue to have this prestigious honor?

Unethical? maybe. Necessary? Absolutely. Look, you've come too far to let a paperwork error do you in. If need be, get a friend to pretend they are a Yahoo Customer Service Rep. Have them on the stand by near a phone. When the company calls to confirm your Top Contributor Status, your friend is the point of contact. In the meantime you need to make up the fake documents to take to the interview just in case they decide they want to see paperwork on your status.
When it's all said and done, never mention this incident to anyone ever again. Goodluck.

What I would do is just stay up all night, answering as many questions as possible, (and begging people to vote you"Best Answer") then keep your fingers crossed for the return of the orange rectangle of rectitude.....

Also, you could just finesse it in your interview, by telling whomever is questioning you, that the whole orange badge thing is "so yesterday" and say something to the effect of "in fact I asked that my badge be removed from my Avatar, because too many were suffering while I was being lauded" etc. etc. I'm sure you get my drift...(and I say this in all seriousness, because I have never worn it, and I have suffered mightily as a result. I have put lots of people as contacts, and when they go to my pitiful profile, they DO NOT add me to *THEIR* contacts....yes you know who you are)

If worse comes to worst and you really feel it's a make-or-break situation, you *could* carry with you a tiny orange sticker, and when they ask you (and they will) to pull up your profile on Y!Answers, just quickly affix it under your name, and probably no one will be the wiser.

Good luck.... I think you have done a great service by reminding us all not to take lightly the privilege and prestige of the orange flame.
And we thank you.

Yes, you can loose your top contributor badge, i used to have it for probably a good 6 months, but i kinda lost interest in signing on Yahoo! Answers all the time and i lost it. but its alright, i still come and go and answer questions. :) WQ- Yes, i knew it was jeff. I heard his music and i was pumped, but then i thought it was Regal messing with everyone again because it too jeff a couple extra seconds to come out to the ramp.
