Who do we blame for virginia tech shooting? Or Columbine?

Shouldn't the satanism in rock and roll be the blame for the "trench coat mafia" shooting up their classmates or does that sound just as ignorant as making hip hop a scapegoat?

Ralph K - if you had a mind of your own you wouldn't have to rely on statistics so often.

What I love about hip hop is it taught me how to be individual, and not to follow the crowd. Early hip hop taught me that drugs and violence weren't cool if you aren't a true hip hop fan I wouldn't expect you to know that. There are still plenty of artists who advocate responsibility and accountability in their lyrics (including myself) but the RECORD INDUSTRY will only support sex, drugs and violence. I blame the RECORD INDUSTRY, not HIP HOP.

We aren’t blaming societies problems on hip hop. What we ARE blaming. Is the blatant double standard of your “leaders” and the black community in general seems to pull. This whole big issues over Imus. Brought it really into the spotlight and Al Sharpton so ignorantly stands there with his ugly mug up there pretending to be for the people when he only represents himself. And no one in the black community bothers standing up to either him NOR Jackson to say that they don’t represent them. Imus made a comment. Unlike what is done in the hip hop industry every day and THOSE people are raking in the big bucks over it. but big Al didn’t see anything wrong with that. Instead of tackling that first he goes after the white guy.. you all need to get your own house in order before pointing the finger elsewhere. I think that one of the results of this whole Imus issues has shown the underlying disdain America has for the black community. And we are sick and tired of hearing about the “poor me” issues and this has really calloused a lot of people towards any issues of the black community. We simply couldn’t care less anymore. The only people that gives blacks a bad name is blacks themselves.

I'm something of a news junkie and not heard ANYone blaming "hip hop" for the tragedy at Va. Tech. They're blaming hip hop and it's popularization of ghetto slang for the Imus incident, so you're getting your stories mixed-up.

Furthermore, the "satanism" in Heavy Metal has already been blamed for teen suicide and violent video games for Columbine. By comparison, hip hop is a wussy.

All hip hop brought down was an 80 year-old radio hack.

that's a cop-out. back interior the 1980's, human beings like Al Gore's spouse went against heavy steel asserting it grew to become into ruining usa and inflicting infants to alter into druggies and whores. Rock and roll did no longer create an entire technology of criminals and perverts, like those human beings theory it would. in all risk a similar component approximately hip hop. you're top. they're blaming paintings with extreme visuals and words, something they concern, for their youngster's autonomous habit.

The 'rock &roll' you talk about is most likely not Satanic. Those two idoits that did Columbine were not either.

You probably should search "Modern Satanism" to get a better understanding on what Satanism actually IS.

Music isn't to blame and niether is Satanism. One could apply a lesson taught in Satanism : personal responsibility.

i dont blame society's problems on hip hop... back in the 50's-70's people blamed society's problems on rock n roll. and people already blamed columbine on violent video games and i already hear people blaming the VT shooting on guns, police, and Asians. and not all rock n roll has satanism in it. Ozzy the so called prince of darkness doesn't talk about Satan in that many of his songs. and i think the reason people hate hip hop so much is because every few lines you hear the words bitches and hoe's. im not saying that for all songs but thats what people think when they hear hip hop

rock music has been blamed for problems in society. hip-hop may not be to blame..but the whole gangsta life style attributes to a whole host of dangerous problems in all races in America. Rap today glorifies murder, drugs, and the lack of respect for women and family.Their is rock music, and violent TV also affecting today's children. Anyone who thinks this isn't having an impact on our children are foolish.

Many bits of freedom of speech can be blamed for the denigration of language. However, when the use of terms used heavily enough to insert themselves into the language are deemed cause of a dog and pony show destruction of an entertainer's life, there must be a kind of hypocrisy afoot.

I dont like scapegoating either, but it might be helpful if you included what you liked about hip hop instead of being defensive about it.

We are all to blame since being imperfect and falling short of the glory of God, we are sinners, Jesus said the heart is treacherous and who can know it? Of course there's a spirit creature called Satan who desires to mislead you.
