Violence isn't the answer, but unfortunatly it can be the last alternative. And we teach kids about war in school because history has a tendency to repeat itself, if we don't teach people about where we have come from, then why teach people anything at all?

Because if it was not for war many many years ago our children/us/ or our family's would not have the freedoms that we so enjoy now. So if they can learn as much as possible in school and understand that violence does not solve anything in the school yard and at home then its OK. But some kids just cant decipher between good and bad and who knows what that is caused from.

In the vague hope that if they remember any of it, it won't happen again. Anyone who studies the two world wars, and gets a real idea of what happened in either, should be so sick of violence they'd never want to raise a hand to swat a fly. Take a real in-depth look at the Somme, for instance. They should show them that.

There is many kinds of 'violence issues' in the world today. War is more than just violence. There are issues of freedom involved in some wars.
Violence on the homefront is domestic violence, abusive behaviors in relationships, car bombing, killing over drugs etc. To me, violence is in a different catecory than war is.
That is my opinion!

Because we teach them wrong. Teaching that violence is not the answer doesn't solve any problems, only creates them when kids are brought up believing that nothing is worth fighting for. The fact is that sometimes, violence IS the only answer.

That is because even that violence is wrong and it’s not the answer to a problem, but it’s the easy way out. They teach us this, because we kids need to know this, we need to know to wars and other mistakes of the past. It's a part of our history and it’s an important part of our education.
I quote “Those who forget the mistakes of the past are destined to repeat it”

I tell my kids that violence is not always the answer.
It is always an option but not always the answer.
