The movie is about a small boy w/ a disability of being short. He goes to school and he says that he knows that there is a reason why he is the way he is and god will use him as an instrument.
at the end his buss goes into a river and he saves others from drowning but ends up drowning himself.

Simon Birch.... great cameo of Jim Carrey at the end... I'm thinking it was actually his first "serious" role.

Simon Birch but it was based on the book, "A Prayer for Owen Meaney." From IMDB trivia:
"Author John Irving doubted his novel, "A Prayer for Owen Meaney", could ever be turned into a film, and sold the screen rights on the condition it not be released under the same name as his book."
Same author as The Cider House Rules and he World According to Garp. Prayer for Owen Meaney was a great book also. Highly reccommended.

Simon Birch. Jim Carey played Joe as an adult. This was an excellent movie that was so under rated. It deserved more publicity than it got.
